4、he target language are supplied for expressing smoothly the original in meaning, syntax and rhetoric.Notice:The words we add should be those necessary to the translation but may not necessary to the original.（一）语法结构性增益 English has no measure words（量词）, while Chinese has. an elephant 一头大象（增补名量词）（一）语法

5、结构性增益 The English verbs have various forms and they vary with the time, aspect（体） and mood（语气）, while the Chinese verbs dont have various forms. e.g. Yesterday evening I had seen her on her knees in front of the house. 译文：昨天夜晚我曾看见她跪在房子前面。（增补表示时态的词）（一）语法结构性增益e.g. We wont retreat, we never have and ne

6、ver will.译文：我们不后退，我们从来没有后退过，我们将来也决不后退。（增补表示时态的词/增补原文中省略的词）（一）语法结构性增益 The English countable nouns have singular and plural forms, while the Chinese nouns dont. e.g. The lion is the king of animals. 译文：狮子是百兽之王。 （增补体现复数的词）（一）语法结构性增益e.g. The mountains began to throw their long blue shadows over the vall

9、he transmission of moving-image files, which typically are several hundred megabytes in size, over the Internet in a matter of hours.译文：宽带连接已经能够在数小时之内将通常有几百兆字节大小的影像文件进行传输。（注：名词兼具动词的性质，将其翻译成动宾结构，译文通顺流畅。）（二）行文方式性增益e.g. He was weak and old.译文：他身体衰弱，年纪也大了。 他年老体衰。e.g. There are books and books.译文：有好些本书。

11、益In order to achieve clarity, its necessary to add some nouns, verbs, adjectives or adverbs.e.g. He dismissed the meeting without a closing speech.译文：他没有致闭幕词就结束了会议。 （增补动词）In order to follow the Chinese habits of expression, we can add some appropriate words after adjectives and abstract nouns derive

12、d from verbs or adjectives. e.g. preparation 准备工作(category word)tension 紧张关系(category word)unemployment 失业现象(category word)e.g. From the evaporation of water, people know that liquids can turn into gases under certain condition.译文：人们从水的蒸发现象得知，液体在一定条件下能转变为气体。 （增补名词）（四）修辞性增益 e.g. It was a crime so qui
