我国生猪产业经历了2007年和2008年的大幅波动之后，在2009年下半年开始出现可持续的向上发展的势头。从猪肉价格来看，自2009年6月中旬开始，我国猪肉价格已经从2008年的连续下调当中开始止跌反弹，到2009年第三季度猪肉价格已经出现了持续十多周连续上涨，从第四季度开始，节庆消费市场的启动对猪肉价格的上涨会起到强烈的支撑作用，猪肉价格的上涨会使生猪行业的利润趋于正常水平，为生猪行业新一轮的上升周期提供基础。从猪肉供给市场来看，一方面，自2009年2月开始，我国规模以上屠宰企业的生猪屠宰数量从月度环比数据来看，总体呈现向上的趋势；从月度同比数据来看，更是比2008年的屠宰量出现大幅的增长；另一方面，2010年1-10月中国生猪存栏数量与2009年年底相比基本维持平衡，但能繁母猪存栏数量则出现连续的下降趋势，下半年生猪供给将存在一定的压力，促使生猪产业走出过剩的局面。
