任务实施IntroductionNavigationinthevehicleisaprocessthatthedriverusestogettotheirintendeddestinationbymeansofdirectionsorguidance.Inthepast,adriverwouldhavetodetermineorplanarouteusingpapermaps.Technologyhasmadethisjobeasierviadedicatedprogramsorwebsitesforrouteplanning.Theproblemisthataplannedroutemaybecompromisedduetotrafficconditions.Also,ifagivendirectionisaccidentallymissed,thentheprocessofgettingbacktotheoriginalroutecanbedifficultandtimeconsumingforthedriver.

Asolutionmadepossibleviadevelopmentsintechnologyis(seethefigure6.2.1).Thissystemuseselectronicmapsandoptimizedroute-calculationalgorithmsexecutedviaamicroprocessorforplanningthebestrouteaccordingtothedriver'srequirements.Thisroutecanbeofferedtothedriveronlineviaauserinterfaceprovidingaudibleandvisualinstructionsastheytravel(similartoaco-driver).改革创新示范教材14TheNavigation

任务实施BasicprincipleTheavailabilityofsignalsforpublicusefromGPSsatelliteshasmadenavigationsystemspossibleforgeneralrouteandpositionfinding.Forgeneraluse,theGPSsatellitestransmitsignalsallowingpositioninginformationtobeestablishedwithaccuraciesof±10metresandthisismorethansufficientforvehiclenavigationuse.GPSsatellitesweredevelopedandprovidedforUSmilitaryuseandthesignalsgeneratedproducehighlyaccuratepositioninformation.Notethoughthatthesehigh-accuracysignalsareencryptedandreservedformilitaryusetopreventabuseofthisusefulinformation.Thereare24satelliteswhichcircumnavigatetheearthevery12hoursinsixdifferentorbits(seeFigure6.2.2).Eachonetransmitsauniquesignalatapproximately50Hzwiththeirpositioninformationandatimesignal.Duetothedifferenttransittimesofthissignalfromeachsatellite,thesignalreceivedfromeachonehasatimeoffset.TheGPSreceiverinthenavigationsystemcalculatesthedatatransmissiontimebycomparisonwithitsowninternalclock.改革创新示范教材16Thenavigationsystem
