2、are a society that is seeking connection with our history, our environment, and each other. Urban parks are one of the few venues where a pure expression of this connection is possible. The opportunity to reconnect this 2 acre park with the Union Park development, the City of Las Vegas and the natur

3、al environment is both exciting and challenging. Is it possible that one park can address the needs of a diverse population and articulate a vision for Symphony Park in the 21st Century? Can one park serve multiple events yet still be a place worthy of returning to on a daily basis? Can Symphony Par

4、k be all things to all people? 5、st respond not only to the sites mixed-use context and its diverse users, but also to a future that cannot be predetermined. It is necessary to give form to the park, to create clear linkages to the surrounding community, and design meaningful spaces for gathering and for the interpretation of the n

6、atural environment. But the site must also retain a high degree of flexibility not only for spontaneity but for adaption. We see the roles of art, ecological interpretation and people as vehicles for process-driven flexibility in the park design. Flexibility is also synonymous with a modern lifestyl

7、e and the demands people place on themselves and the environment around them. The “I want it now generation” of WiFi, Blackberry email, drive-thru latte, yoga, electric car users have redefined the modern lifestyle in ways that were unfathomable just 5 years ago. This new modern lifestyle empowers p

8、eople with a unique kind of flexibility that condenses an enormous amount of activity into a shortened timeframe to achieve heightened results. In many ways Symphony Park will serve as a medium by which people can flex their flexibility and associations with modern life within the context of an urba

9、n park - a timeless notion that will serve the park and its users well into the 22nd Century. 58、illing and able to experience it first hand. Some of the most unique desert landscapes are within a few miles of the Union Park development. As a way of introducing this larger landscape to the Union Park development, our design proposes a desert demonstration garden within the Symphony Park site. T

59、his area is approximately 13,000sf in size and could potentially display hundreds of diverse species of native plants such ocotillo, agave species, yucca species, prickly pear, and grasses. Plants will be exhibited in sculpted landforms held in place with corten steel panels that will add complexity

60、 and interest to the way in which people experience the garden. Desert GardenThe natural landscape has much to offer those willing and able to experience it first hand. Some of the most unique desert landscapes are within a few miles of the Union Park development. As a way of introducing this larger
