States.

Today,U.S.cablesystemsdeliverhundredsofchannelstosome60million

homes,whilealsoprovidingagrowingnumberofpeoplewithhigh-speed

Internetaccess.Somecablesystemsevenletyoumaketelephonecallsand

receivenewprogrammingtechnologies!

Theearliestcablesystemswere,ineffect,strategicallyplacedantennaswith

verylongcablesconnectingthemtosubscribers'televisionsets.Becausethe

signalfromtheantennabecameWeakerasittraveledthroughthelengthof
