Withoutadditionalprotectionsinplace,companiesmayshare(andpotentiallymonetize)personalhealthinformationinawayconsumersmaynothaveauthorizedoranticipated.In2021,FloHealthfacedaFederalTradeCommissionFTC)investigation.TheFTCallegedinacomplaintthat"despiteexpressprivacyclaims,thecompanytookcontrolofusers'sensitivityfertilitydataandshareditwiththirdparties."FloHealthandtheFTCsettledthematterwithaConsentOrderrequiringthecompanytogetappusers'expressaffirmativeconsentbeforesharingtheirhealthinformationaswellastoinstructthethirdpartiestodeletethedatatheyhadobtained.
