本文曾获得北京电视台、国家教育部举办的Myteacher英语演讲竞赛优胜奖。在以“我的老师”为主题的演讲会上,这篇演讲出人意料地将计算机称作自己的老师,以吸引听众的留意。然后又用事实与推理证明计算机的确是一个“老师”,从而赢得了听众的共鸣。某些语言上的不足之处点评修改如下:

(1)在every后,territory用复数,明显是错误的。另外,表示“各个领域”,用field为好。

(2)原文时态用错了。

(3)concept是可数名词。make后的宾语补语假如是不定式的话,要省略to。另外,一般不用被动不定式,而只用过去分词。deeply也有中国式英语之嫌。

(4)helpsb.(to)do,不用doing。

Withthedevelopmentofmodernscienceandtechnology,computersarewidelyusedineveryteritories[everyfield](1)includingeducation.Howcanacomputerbemyteacher?Howdoesacomputerteachme?Multimedia(多媒体)helpsalotinthisaspectinrecentyears,andcomputer-basedtraining(CBT)hasbecomeapopulareducationalmedium(手段).Evenbeforethemultimediacome[came](2)up,manydifferentlearningsystemsappeared,usingthecomponentsandtechniqueswenowassociatewiththeterm“multimedia”.Multimediacomponents,suchasgraphics(动画),animations,soundandvideo,makethelearningprocesseasierthroughvisualization.Animationscanpresentmanycomplexsubjectsdynamically,buthumanteacherscannotdothisonblackboards.Multimediamakesourstudymorelivelyandinteresting.Forexample,aCD-ROMdisknamed“EncartaEncyclopedia”contains650MBinformationincludingimages,graphics,musicclips,videoclips,animations,texts,hotwords,anddatabasesearchfunctions.Fieldsinvolvedincludesphysicalsciences,performancearts,socialsciences,politics,military,educationandsoon.Whenpressingabutton,IcanhearAmericanPresidentClinton'sspeechclip.Imayenjoyplayingallkindsofmusicalinstrumentsintheworld.Icanalsoseetheanimationofmanyphysicalphenomena.Thismakesphysicalconcepttobeunderstooddeeply[conceptsunderstoodbetter](3).Theaudiofeaturesofmultimediacangreatlyhelpmelearning[learn](4)foreignlanguages.Withitsspeechoutputcapabilities,I'mnolongerdependentonaninstructorforproperpronunciation.

HowcanIinteractwithacomputer?Therearemanyways,includingkeyboard,mousepointer,andtouchscreen.Ioftenuseakeyboard.WhenIpressrightkeys,IcanseeandhearwhateverIwant.Informationworldisatmyfingertip.Iwishthattruespeechinput-outputsystemwouldbeinventedoneday.

Asteachers,computershavealotofvirtues:Theyarepositive,theyhavegoodmemoriesandneverloseanyinformationstoredinthem.Theyhavemuchknowledgeineveryfield.Theycanletoutallkindsofsounds,andcanalsoimprovetheefficiencyofourstudy.Forexample,ifIwantto,IcanskipsomechapterssothatIcanstudyatmyownpace.

Althoughcomputerswillnevertaketheplaceofhumanteachers,theyarewelcomedbymoreandmorelearners.Computerswillcontinuetoevolve(进展)withtheaidofmoderntechnologies.Computersaresopowerful,helpfulandimportantthateverybodyneedsit,especiallyinthefuture!Ilovemycomputerteacher!
