如何做学术报告?做国际学术会议报告的几点技巧(tips)?冯兆东(2019-08-03)?一、我自己的一个沉痛的教训?记得那是1988年,我在美国地质学年会的一个分会上做了一个口头报告,那是我的第一个英文口头报告。

由于我的报告科学质量低、由于透明胶片复印质量和文字质量低、由于准备不充分和表达极不通畅,报告效果极差。

报告前,我的导师坐在我旁边为我鼓劲。

但当我讲完后,他却悄悄地溜了(显然,他是被我臊着的了)。

更严重的是:

到了四年之后的1992年,我向美国自然科学基金会(NSF)提交了一个基金申请,一位评审在他的审稿意见中写道在:

我在1988年听过申请者(Feng)的一个报告,那是一个毫无意义的和浪费听众时间的糟糕报告。

很显然,我的轻率报告当时让我在同行面前失去了信誉(credibility),我为此付出了沉重代价。

?二、学术报告的目的是学术交流?1988年的我只想着:

我报告了,我露脸了,我的简历上有新内容了。

后来,我发现有不少年轻人正在犯着我当年的错误:

为了报告而报告,为了在简历上添加新内容而报告。

我有充分的经验和经历让我有信心地说:

虽然一个报告只有20分钟左右,但报告的目的只有一个(是的,只有一个):

讲述一个道理或论证一个事实。

而且,你得让您的听众听懂,最好是100%地听懂。

?2-1.报告的准备?即使你的英文比较好,你的报告是需要用认真的态度和用专业的水准去准备的。

你得用能给大同行讲懂的语言(大同行:

对您讲的内容的基本背景有大致的了解和理解)去组织你的科学:

逻辑和语言逻辑。

科学逻辑指的是科学研究的四股:

(1)Whydidyoudothis?(2)Howdidyoudoit?(3)Whataretheresults?(4)Whatisyourinterpretation?:

语言逻辑指的是:

(1)complete(完整),(2)concise(简明扼要),(3)coherent(连贯的、合乎逻辑的)。

特别需要强调的是:

coherent(连贯的、合乎逻辑的)最为重要,它意味着句子中指-代关系是清晰的,逻辑是平稳的。

记着:

短短20分钟的学术报告是容不得逻辑跳跃或逻辑断层的。

?2-2.图文并茂与口头表达?Needlesstosay(不用说),将您的报告内容用最简明和引人入胜的办法表达出来(PPT:

幻灯片)是需要技术和技巧的。

实际上,制作的学术报告的PPT的技巧几乎是无穷的。

每次参加会议,我发现总有人(那些熟悉制作技术的人、那些能将复杂科学问题简化的人、那些肯花时间去制作PPT的人)能用做PPT的方?法使他(她)的报告效果达到最佳。

PPT做好了之后,还有一件事也是同等重要的:

PPT(幻灯片)上的文字与您口头语言之间的协调和平衡。

假定您的英文是没有太大问题的,您必须关注的是:

不要让PPT上的文字太多而使您的口头表达变得毫无意义或/和没人理会。

总之,PPT图表、PPT上的文字辅助说明、您的口头表达三者要到到各司其职,以达到最佳的被听懂和让听众跟着您的思路走的效果。

?2-3.英文不足够好怎么办??不要紧的。

最近我在日本参加一个国际会议时发现,那些英语了并不好的日本人做的还行。

第一,他们尽心尽力地准备好了PPT(图文并茂,内容深度和多寡都把握得比较好)。

第二,他们(日本人)都用事先写好的稿子来报告(而不是随兴语言),而且他们大多都能做到英文发音比较准确(我怀疑:

有人在报告前好好地和狠狠地练过发音的)。

这就确保了他们的报告内容能够被理解。

第三,他们(日本人)也时常听不懂听众的提问(多由于他们自己的英文不足够好,也有由于提问者的英文口音偏重的情形),但他们会很坦然的请求在场的英文比较好的日本同行替他们翻译。

?2-4.怎么应对学术报告后的提问??记着,学术报告的目的是学术交流。

学术交流意味着双向的思想碰撞和流通。

参加一次学术会议,特别是比较昂贵和费事的国际学术会议,您总是有两大任务的:

(1)向同行展示您的成果,(2)向同行学习他们的成果。

进而,您的学术报告本身也有两大任务:
