(2)中的morethesamethantheyaredifferent意为“共同点大于不同点”。

这种moreAthanB的结构通常用在不包括比较分句的句子中,其意义通常是肯定A,否定B,

即相当于“与其说是B,不如说是A"。有时也可对A和B的程度进行比较,即:“A的程度大于

B"。这种more…than的结构可用来连接主语补语,如下例(1);状语,如下例(2)等句子成分。

此外,morethan也可用于不带比较分句的句子中,作“不只是”讲,后面跟名词短语,如下例
