censedtoSongGuanyuMrnloadedsreserved©ISOSingleuserlicencesreservedISOE)ternationalOrganizationforStandardizationisaworldwidefederationofnationalstandardsbodies(ISOmemberbodies).TheworkofpreparingInternationalStandardsisnormallycarriedoutthroughISOtechnicalcommittees.Eachmemberbodyinterestedinasubjectforwhichatechnicalcommitteehasbeenestablishedhastherighttoberepresentedonthatcommittee.Internationalorganizations,governmentalandnon-governmental,inliaisonwithISO,alsotakepartinthework.ISOcollaboratescloselywiththeInternationalElectrotechnicalCommission(IEC)onallmattersofelectrotechnicalstandardization.TheproceduresusedtodevelopthisdocumentandthoseintendedforitsfurthermaintenancearedescribedintheISO/IECDirectives,Part1.InparticularthedifferentapprovalcriterianeededforthedifferenttypesofISOdocumentsshouldbenoted.ThisdocumentwasdraftedinaccordancewiththeeditorialrulesoftheISO/IECDirectives,Part2(see/directives).Attentionisdrawntothepossibilitythatsomeoftheelementsofthisdocumentmaybethesubjectofpatentrights.ISOshallnotbeheldresponsibleforidentifyinganyorallsuchpatentrights.DetailsofanypatentrightsidentifiedduringthedevelopmentofthedocumentwillbeintheIntroductionand/orontheISOlistofpatentdeclarationsreceived(see/patents).Anytradenameusedinthisdocumentisinformationgivenfortheconvenienceofusersanddoesnotconstituteanendorsement.Foranexplanationonthevoluntarynatureofstandards,themeaningofISOspecifictermsandexpressionsrelatedtoconformityassessment,aswellasinformationaboutISO'sadherencetotheWorldTradeOrganization(WTO)principlesintheTechnicalBarrierstoTrade(TBT)seethefollowingURL:/iso/foreword.html.ThisdocumentwaspreparedbyTechnicalCommitteeISO/TC79,Lightmetalsandtheiralloys,mitteeSCOrganicandanodicoxidationcoatingsonaluminiumThisfourtheditioncancelsandreplacesthethirdedition(ISO3210:2010),whichhasbeentechnicallyrevised.Themainchangescomparedtothepreviouseditionareasfollows:—theoptionofusingatestsolutionthatdoesnotcontainhexavalentchromiumions(testsolutionB)hasbeenadded;—anewsubclausepertainingtotheuseoftestsolutionBhasbeenincludedintheprocedure.censedtoSongGuanyuMrAllrightsreservedSingleuserlicenceonlycopyingandnetworkingprohibitedISOE)nodizingofaluminiumanditsalloysAssessmenticoxidationcoatingsbylossofmassafterimmersioninacidcopeThisdocumentspecifiesmethodsofassessingthequalityofsealedanodicoxidationcoatingsonaluminiumanditsalloysbymeasurementofthelossofmassafterimmersioninacidsolution(s).Itconsistsofthefollowingtwomethods.—Method1:Assessmentofqualityofsealedanodicoxidationcoatingsbymeasurementofthelossofmassafterimmersioninaphosphoricacidbasedsolutionwithoutprioracidtreatment.—Method2:Assessmentofqualityofsealedanodicoxidationcoatingsbymeasurementofthelossofmassafterimmersioninaphosphoricacidbasedsolutionwithprioracidtreatment.Method1isapplicabletoanodicoxidationcoatingsintendedfordecorativeorprotectivepurposesorwhereresistancetostainingisimportant.Method2isapplicabletoanodicoxidationcoatingsintendedforoutdoorarchitecturalpurposes.Forlesssevereapplications,Method1canbemoresuitable.Themethodsarenotapplicabletothefollowing:—hard-typeanodicoxidationcoatingswhichnormallyarenotsealed;—anodicoxidationcoatingsthathavebeensealedonlyindichromatesolutions;—anodicoxidationcoatingsproducedinchromicacidsolutions;—anodicoxidationcoatingsthathaveundergonetreatmenttorenderthemhydrophobic.NOTE1Themethodsassessthequalityofhydrothermalsealingappliedtoanodizedaluminium.Theycanbeappropriateforothersealingmethods.NOTE2Themethodsaredestructiveandcanserveasreferencemethodsincaseofdoubtordisputeregardingtheresultsofthetestforlossofabsorptivepower(seeISO2143)orthemeasurementofadmittanceesThefollowingdocumentsarereferredtointhetextinsuchawaythatsomeoralloftheircontentconstitutesrequirementsofthisdocument.Fordatedreferences,onlytheeditioncitedapplies.Forundatedreferences,thelatesteditionofthereferenceddocument(includinganyamendments)applies.ISOAnodizingofaluminiumanditsalloys—TermsanddefinitionsForthepurposesofthisdocument,thetermsanddefinitionsgiveninISO7583apply.censedtoSongGuanyuMrnloaded©ISO2017–Allrightsreservednetworking©ISO2017–Allrightsreservednetworkingprohibited1ISOE)ISOandIECmaintainterminologicaldatabasesforuseinstandardizationatthefollowingaddresses:—ISOOnlinebrowsingplatform:availableat/obp—IECElectropedia:availableat/4PrincipleAnunsealedanodicoxidationcoatingonaluminiumisdissolvedrapidlybyacidmedia,whereasawell-sealedcoatingwillwithstandlongimmersionwithoutappreciableattack.Themethodsaresurfacespecific.Theytesttheresistanceofthesurfaceofasealedanodicoxidationcoatingtoattackbycertainacidsolutions.Theydonottestthequalitythroughthewholethicknessofthecoating.tsGeneralUseonlyreagentsofrecognizedanalyticalgradeanddistilledwaterordeionizedwater..2Predipsolution,usedonlyforMethod2Aqueoussolutioncontaining(470±15)g/lnitricacid.NOTEThissolutioncanbeobtained,forexample,bydilutinga65%nitricacidsolution(ρ20=1,40g/ml)withanequalvolumeofwater.TestsolutionAAqueoussolutioncontainingperlitre,35mlofphosphoricacid(ρ20=1,7g/ml)and20gofchromium(VI)oxide.WARNING—Chromium(VI)istoxicandshallbehandledproperly.Chromium(VI)solutionsarehazardoustotheenvironmentandseverelyhazardoustowaters.5.3.2TestsolutionBAqueoussolutioncontainingperlitre,35mlofphosphoricacid(ρ20=1,7g/ml).pparatusrationoftestspecimenCutapiecefromthematerialtobetested,avoidingcontactareas,suchthatthereisanareaofapproximately1dm2,butnotlessthan0,5dm2,ofsignificantsurfacearea.Normally,themassofthetestspecimenshouldnotexceed200g.Forhollowextrusions,takethetestspecimenfromtheendofthesectionswherethetotal(externalplusinternal)surfaceareahasananodicoxidationcoating(duetothethrowingpoweroftheanodizingelectrolyte).censedtoSongGuanyuMr22AllrightsreservedSingleuserlicenceonlycopyingandnetworkingprohibitedISOE)Inspecialcases,suchascertaintypesofjigging,smallhollowsections,etc.,itisnecessarytoremovetheanodicoxidationcoatingfromtheinsidesurfaceandtocarryoutthetestonthecoatingontheoutersurfaceoftheextrusion.IftestsolutionAisused,theanodicoxidationcoatingmayberemovedfromtheinsidebymechanicalabrasionorbychemicaldissolution.Otherwise,theinsidesurfacemaybemasked.Ifbyagreementbetweentheanodizerandthecustomer,specialtestspecimensareprepared,theyshallbeofthesamealloyastheproductioncomponentsandprocessedthroughtheanodizinglineatthesametimeastheproductioncomponents.ProcedureionsTestsolutionAdoesnotattackbaremetalanditisnotnecessarytotakeuncoatedsurfacesintoaccount.TestsolutionBattacksbaremetaltoalimitedextent.However,itisnotnecessarytotakeuncoatedsurfacesintoaccountifconditionsa)andb)arebothsatisfied.a)Dissolutionofanuncoatedspecimenofthemetaldoesnotexceed10mg/dm2overtheoperations8.2.4to8.2.6or8.3.4to8.3.8inclusivedependingonthemethodbeingused.b)Theuncoatedsurfaceareadoesnotexceed20%ofthetotalsurfaceareaiftheuncoatedsurfacewascreatedbycuttingormechanicalabrasiontoremovetheanodicoxidationcoatingorbychemicaldissolutionoftheanodicoxidationcoating.Whereeitherconditionisnotsatisfied,theuncoatedsurfacemaybemaskedusinganadherentmaterialthatneithergainsnorlosesmassinexcessof1,0mg/dm2overtheoperations8.2.4to8.2.6or8.3.4to8.3.8inclusivedependingonthemethodbeingused.cimenofthesamealloyasthatofthetestspecimen.EmpiricaldataindicatethatthedissolutionofeachofthealloysAAA1080A,5005,5005A,5657,5754,6060,6063and6063Asatisfiesconditiona).8.2Method1Removeanysealingsmutfromthetestspecimenbyrubbingwithadrycloth.8.2.2Measurethetotalcoatedsurfaceareaofthetestspecimen(excludingcutedgesandotheruncoatedsurfaces).Degreasethetestspecimeninanorganicsolvent,e.g.acetoneorethanol(96%),atroomtemperatureaccordingtothemethodspecifiedinA.DrythetestspecimenthoroughlyinaccordancewithA.2andweighimmediatelyto0,1mg(mass,m1).8.2.5Immersethetestspecimencompletely,standingupright,inthetestsolutionandleaveitforat°C±1°Cforthedurationofthetest.Uniformityoftemperaturewithinthetestsolutionisveryimportant;thiscanbeachievedbyusingawaterbathandstirringcontinuously.Donotusethetestsolutionaftermorethan4,5gofanodicoxidationcoatingandaluminiumhavebeendissolvedperlitreofsolution.censedtoSongGuanyuMrnloaded3sreserved©ISOSingleuserlicence3sreservedISOE)Donotusethetestsolutionwhichhasbeenincontactwithmetalsotherthananodizedaluminiumoritsalloys.8.2.6Takethetestspecimenfromthetestsolutionandrinsethoroughly,first,underrunningwaterandthenindistilledwaterordeionizedwater.DrythetestspecimenasspecifiedinA.2andweighimmediatelyto0,1mg(mass,m2).onsdescribedintoinclusiveavoidtouchingthetestspecimenwithbarehands.Takeextremecarethatthetwodryingoperationsrequiredin8.2.4and8.2.6arecarriedoutinthesamereproduciblewayandavoidheatingtotemperaturesabove63°C.8.3Method2Removeanysealingsmutfromthetestspecimenbyrubbingwithadrycloth.8.3.2Measurethetotalcoatedsurfaceareaofthetestspecimen(excludingcutedgesandotheruncoatedsurfaces).Degreasethetestspecimeninanorganicsolvent,e.g.acetoneorethanol(96%),atroomtemperatureaccordingtothemethodspecifiedinA.DrythetestspecimenthoroughlyinaccordancewithA.2andweighitimmediatelyto0,1mgmassm.8.3.5Immersethetestspecimencompletely,standingupright,inthepredipsolution(see5.2)andleaveforminatatemperatureofC1°C.NOTEThepredipsolutiondoesnotattackbaremetal.8.3.6Takethetestspecimenfromthepredipandrinseitthoroughly,first,underrunningwaterandtilledwaterordeionizedwater8.3.7Immersethetestspecimencompletely,standingupright,inthetestsolutionandleaveitforat°C±1°Cforthedurationofthetest.Uniformityoftemperaturewithinthetestsolutionisveryimportant;thiscanbeachievedbyusingawaterbathandstirringcontinuously.Donotusethetestsolutionaftermorethan4,5gofanodicoxidationcoatingandaluminiumhavebeendissolvedperlitreofsolution.Donotusethetestsolutionwhichhasbeenincontactwithmetalsotherthananodizedaluminiumoritsalloys.8.3.8Takethetestspecimenfromthetestsolutionandrinseitthoroughly,first,underrunningwaterandthenindistilledwaterordeionizedwater.DrythetestspecimenasspecifiedinA.2andweighimmediatelyto0,1mg(mass,m2).Takeextremecarethatthetwodryingoperationsrequiredin8.3.4and8.3.8arecarriedoutinthesamereproduciblewayandavoidheatingtotemperaturesabove63°C.censedtoSongGuanyuMr44AllrightsreservedSingleuserlicen
