three methods in modern english teachingthesis statement:modern english teaching methods are good ways for learning english.introduction:a .background: different period has different teaching methodsb modern english teaching method includes three methods advantage of three methodsa teaching english through videos1 it can benefit the learners and boost their language skills2 it makes students learning english livelyb student central1 it can arouse the student for learning english purpose 2 it can promote the ability of creation existed3 it can foster the students ability to study on their ownc encourage students 1 it is good for promoting students interesting for learning english 2 it makes student to find self-confident achieve good resultsabstract: modern english teaching methods includes three methods. there are teaching english through videos, student- centred, encouraging student. they have different advantages. for example: teaching english through videos may make students boost their language skills, listening and speaking. using videos in the classroom can facilitate the process of learning a foreign language. student central may make students give the rein to their imagination. students bring to any activity a spirit of wonder, great curiously and a spontaneous drive to explore, experiment, and manipulate in a playful and original fashion. encourage students may make students find self-confident to study english, it is extremely important that as a teacher in a class, you can help to rekindle that spark, and so on. the modern english teaching methods are worthy of emulation, because they are fit for learning english in modern world.key words: methods skills creativity rekindle different period has different english teaching methods, and different english methods bring student different effect. although depending on traditional the chalk-blackboard-teacher model teaching method has produced a lot of great persons, it no longer meets the challenge of present development( 外语电化教学双月刊2005年第四期)。to be improved there are three methods in modern english teaching .the first one is teaching english through videos. the second one is student central. the third one is encouraging student. they have different advantage themselves and they are fit for english teaching in the modern world. :teaching english through videos there are two types of video that can be used in the classroom .the first is the instructional video, which has been created for use in classroom or in other educational settings and has additional advantages. it is likely to already have been evaluated for language, content, and length. the second type is the authentic video or videos produced for the entertainment of native english speakers, which include; films, documentary films, television programs and news broadcasts. using videos in the classroom can facilitate the process of learning a foreign language. it helps the learners improve their language skills. by using videos for this purpose the teacher can easily provide students with rich topics to talk about, different real-life situations, and a highstandard of language, as spoken by native speakers. however, when using videos in the language classroom, the teachers role is essential in making it possible for the students to make full use of the video to improve their language and communication skills. the teacher is also responsible for keeping the whole process under control so that the session will not turn into some kind of film club where the students only concentrate on watching the action rather than learning new language structures. using videos in language classes can benefit the learners and boost their language skills, especially listening and speaking (高师英语教学与研究,2005年第四期).someone thinks that it is very difficult to study english. in fact, listening and speaking are the problem in english . if listening and speaking problem are solved, it will be very easy to study english. students really enjoy watching movies and tv, because they can get exposure to natural language in a non-threatening setting. videos direct students attention to the different learning styles because they combine two elements, which is visual and audio, some student can learn better when they can “see” and “listen” rather than read and write. it provides a context for learning and makes the verbal communication lovelier. when watching a film student seem to react to those situation and events as they do in real life. videos can be on tool for reaching different cultures. they offer a wide range of knowledge and broaden ones viewpoint and outlook. videos show real-life situation. through watching films, students gradually learn how to use language appropriately in different situations.a video is a very medium, it can be controlled and presented to a group of students to individuals, or used for self-study. movies and videos provide common ground for students of any international background. they also provide them with information in various subject areas. a video or taped tv program could offer student a chance to visit a period of time or a destination which could not otherwise be brought into the classroom. for example, the film “gone with the wind” provides a great deal of information about the american civil war. watching videos allows learning to see facial expression and body language at the same time as they hear the stress, intonation, and rhythm of the language. in a video class, students tend to learn in a natural way, so they can pick up the language spontaneously.: student- centred one of the most important things a teacher can do is to make students aware of their own metacongnitive. good teachers know, although they might not be able to prove it, that good teaching is really about caring and sharing ;the capacity to accept, understand, and appreciate students on their terns and through their world; making students feel good about themselves; positive attitude, and setting achievement goals; and getting all fired up with enthusiasm and cheerful presence. student-centred is a good way for students to study . students bring to any activity a spirit of wonder, great curiosity, and a spontaneous drive to explore, experiment, and manipulate in a playful and original fashion. the key to setting up an environment that promotes creativity is freedom .students need to be free to explore ,experiment, manipulate, invent, and pretend spontaneously. having an adult show them how or tell them what to do defeats this purpose. adults do not see things or use things as children do .students need the opportunity to work out many ideas their own way, without adult direction or interference. and with a development of foreign language teaching and studying, people pay more attention to study about subject and object. the first duty of foreign language teaching study is “learning” and the second is “teaching”, whether can get the aim of anticipation, it depends on learners themselves. at the present ,the teaching form of teacher fronted is being replaced by student central(外语教学,西安外国语学院主办,双月刊,2005年第5期第26卷。). this method can arouse the students to study english consciously, and also can promote the creation existed. according to cognitive theory, the process of language study is a process which is new-old knowledge reappeared. language study also is language ability that is from theory knowledge to using by oneself process. the process of teaching is that teachers and student cooperate with each other, it doesnt convey object knowledge. teachers should encourage students to study by themselves, at the same time, teachers should acquire best way of learning. teaching takes measures different methods to teach different student, which makes them learning english flexibly. as result let students break off with the problem of study english. teachers give student more times to discuss by themselves. when student meet some problems, teacher ask them to discuss in groups. so it not only can promote the learners to take pant in the class, and improve their oral, but also can develop their obligation and lonely sense. in this conditions student like to learn english quickly, of course they can improve their level in english quickly.: encouraging students everyone knows that a person has five fingers, and any two fingers are not the same long in these five fingers, at the same way a class is made of many students. the students come from different families, different schools, different areas. they got different environment of education in the past. in this condition, the level of english must be difference, some student think that english is the easiest subject to study , but the others think that english is the most difficult to study . in english class, they appear different attitude. the better students pay attention to listening, but the others want to sleep, even they can break the rule in class. at this moment, teachers should help students to administer them. if someone is speaking again and again, teachers may do this: put fingers into the mouth which closed deeply or shake the head quickly. this action may student do something which they should do. the teachers also walk toward them who are speaking, it remains them to pay attention to the class rule. teachers may say sever words which are very horror, but not laugh at them. teachers may bay to divert students attention, or class pay attention to them, the student speak with others, this action is very normal, but they dont speak forever, when they dont speak, teachers give them same praise and give better student encouragement. at this moment, student suddenly find that teachers really pay attention to them, and time give some praise they fell very happy in their heart, at this same time, their good action make affect. after this moment, student must become better and better.
