ormorecaloriesperhour.

However,racewalkingdoesn'tdoasmuchharmtothebodyasrunningdoes,Dr.Norberg

says.Accordingtoherresearch,runnershitthegroundwithasmuchasfourtimestheirbody

weightperstep,whileracewalkers,whodonotleavetheground,createonlyabout1.4timestheir

bodyweightwitheachstep.

cannot,oratleastshouldnet,beblamedonourparents,our:eachers,oroursociety—it'slargely

basedonthechoiceswcmake,andtheattitudeswcadopt.

Lifeisfullofexamplesoftheuneducated,thementallyandphysicallychallengedpeople

bornintowar-tomareas,whocouldhavecomplainedaboutlifebeingunfair,butwhoinstead

choseadifferentpath.Regardlessofthechallengestheyfaced,theyhadthecharactertochoose

contributionovercomplaint.
