mathematicaltheoriesintopractice.Duringthelastpartofthewarhebecameinterestedinmachinesand

madeseveralfundamentalcomputingcontributions.Afterthewar,vonNeumanncontinuedhiswork

withcomputers,andwasgenerallyveryactiveingovernmentservice.Hereceivedmanyawards,was

presidentoftheAmericanMathematicalSocietyandwasamemberoftheAtomicEnergyCommission.
