However,theresearcherssuggestthatthedeathratemaybehigheramonggorillasthanhumans.Thereasonisthatthereseemsloweravailabilityoftreatmentsforgorillas.Whenthiswasconsidered,theproportion(比例)ofthe2,000simulatedpopulationsintheparkthatwouldcollapsewithin50yearsincreasedto80%.WhiletheaverageR0ofCOVID-19inhumanshaspreviouslybeenfoundtobeapproximately2.5,thescientistsfoundthatwhentheK0amonggorillaswasatleast1.05,thepossibilityofpopulationcollapsewouldincrease.ThisindicatestheimportanceoflimitingSARS-CoV-2transmissionwithinthepopulation.
