Theresearchersfocusedondatafrom4,800dailysmokers.Thosewhohadaddictionorotherpsychiatricproblemsatthetimeofthefirstsurveywerelesslikelytohavethosesameproblemsthreeyearslateriftheyhadquitsmoking.Andthosewhohadn'thadpsychiatricproblemsattheinitialsurveywerelesslikelytodevelopthoseproblemslateriftheyalreadyhadquit.
