20、 that it was wrong or stupid. Whether cannot be replaced by if in this pattern. If is usually followed by a clause and without or. 18 . shed rather risk her life than feel bad about. 24、c are synonyms. But in the following sentences, the word sympathetic is used, not compassionate: They are very sympathetic to our plan. I like to talk to her about my problems.
