1、A Discussion on Urban Non-motorized Traffic System Planning - with a Case Study of TaiwanAbstract: Traffic modes which mainly rely on physical force, generally including pedestrain and bicycle, are called Non-motorized Traffic(hereinafter named NMT), NMT system plays a key role in improving the spat

2、ial functions of the city, and improving the life quality of urban residents. Firstly, this paper briefly introduced the main parts of the contents of Taiwan urban NMT System Planning Based on these experiences, the characteristics and functions of the urban NMT are summarized and the technical flow

3、 and content of urban NMT system planning is put forward.Keywords: Non-motorized Traffic(NMT), transportation planning, TaiwanTraffic issue is closely related to the traffic jam .energy consumption and emissions of green house gases in urban area. The traffic issue could be solved only through the I

4、ntegrated land use and transport planning, decreasing the total amount of travel and a good traffic organization. Taiwan adapts integrated land use and transport planning based on TOD(transit-oriented development) and Location policy, and takes a series of sustainable traffic strategies within each

5、city systems such as developing convenient and comfortable public transport and non-motorized transportation network, reducing the travel volume of motor vehicles,etc. Therefore,effective measures should be taken to deal with this problem. Traffic modes which mainly rely on physical force, generally

6、 including pedestrain and bicycle, are called Non-motorized Traffic(hereinafter named NMT), NMT system plays a key role in improving the spatial functions of the city, and improving the life quality of urban residents.1 YILAN WATERFRONT REVITALIZATION, TAIWAN, CHINAThe people in the Field Office, bo

7、th residents and professionals, choose to stay in Yilan that a place making them throb . That supports them to rid of constraint and set sail relievedly from their lives for exploring creation. Their imagination of space which is like vines creeps in the small towns and countryside of Yilan. There i

8、s not a consequent main space and no need to get the answer rapidly which might limit the future development. They could give more nutrients and their imagination could spread connect, be open and grow different branches that would carve out more opportunities of space.Visitors change their plans af

9、ter the establishment of the fast and convenient Pei-Yi Highway. In the fear of losing the attractions of Yilan's old town center, we , therefore, focus greatly on the diverse and opulent history and humanity of Yilan town. At the same time, we want to build a good foundation for this town's

10、 green traffic and its charms and vitality. We expect the town to embrace and inspire its people from different ages with different social status; to work with and share with people from different industries; to keep its flexibility in culture while various and vibrant commercial activities existed.

11、 We start from Diu Diu Dang as the start point of this linkage to Yilan's old town. Go west, there is the new development of Old Town Park, which is very likely to be the re-establishment of Yilan's moats. Continue this path, there will be the Performing Center, Five Grains Temple, the Luna

12、Plaza, the Gate of the old towns prison, Yilan Distillery Cultural Park, Bisha Temple, Yang Shifeng Memorial Park, Kun Da Alley, Social Welfare Center, and a crescent passage leads to Yilan's riverbanks.Only when every single citizen does not feel overly being taken care of and can walk through

13、these public and government institutions freely; only when time changes, policy and function adjust, and the space is still left with charm, could this space be shared with, loved and appreciated by generations after generations. When we think of Yilan River, we no longer consider from the aspect of

14、 how we use it. Facilities were only and merely a small part of our experiment. We realize that to give life to Yilan River, we must let her grow. River is an unlimited expansion and boundless imagination.2 THE SPRAWL OF DAILY-LIFE CORRIDOR, LUODONG TOWN, YILAN, TAIWAN, CHINAComparing with the suave

15、ness character of Yilan city, Luodong breathes an appealing charm mixed with pressed force and the growing desire. Without the supervision under the Ching Government, space of hierarchy structure in Lowdong was naturally dubious, equally, and developing with local people's walking scale. The rat

16、ional thought of techniques from the glorious period of Luodong's wood industrial goes deep into town people's lives, it makes Luodong people experiencing life without being held up by the measure of knowledge. Additionally, the long period subconscious resisting on politics and cultural to

22、dinally the much experience of urban living, and to traverse among several events on distinct layers.Under such purpose, the waterfront space is indeed the subject of the spatial creation, while mountain and water are the specific content. Therefore, the design project is imagined and shaped by the

23、needs of the city, and simultaneously defines the meaning of urban living along Tamsui River. It is through the participation in the process of planning and design and the subsequent operation and management, that one may create a new culture landscape.The act of design starts from discussion with u

24、sers on site. Since tourism will transform the functions of the waterfront area, design discussion is about unlocking their body memories associated with detailed usages of the site, and is negotiation mechanism in the demand management process for the public-private interface of the linear space. I

25、n terms of spatial interface of the linear space. In terms of spatial installation, in addition to building waterfront recreational facilities that can accommodate a large number of tourists, it should connect with past experience, current situation, and imagination of future uses through the creati

Shaping versatile, distinctive characteristics of slow community is an important part of building a slow cities, slow the transformation of the community to enhance and create a series of urba

31、n vitality of the slow region, through the upgrading of urban areas drive the enhancement of the slow system.By analyzing the traffic characteristics and the transportation facilities within or around the square, and for investigating a suitable pattern that fits the remodeling ,this paper propose t

32、he concept of comprehensive transportation management, making use of existing resources, reasonably defining traffic management responsibilities, incorporating human-friendly design into transportation facility re-construction, as well as traffic channelization and organization, with attentions also
