By learning the conversation,the students will learn about the present progressive tense. Since this tense is the key point of this unit, and at the same time, it is the first class of this unit, so it is really very important.Teaching aims and demands1. Knowledge objects1) To study the new words and phrases : newspaper, use, soup, wash, and read a newspaper and make soup.2) To make the Ss know how to use the following sentences: What are you doing? Im watching TV. Whats he doing? Hes using the computer. What are they doing? Theyre listening to a CD. 2. Ability objects1) To develop the Ss abilities of listening and speaking by talking about what are people doing.2) To develop the Ss abilities of communication by using the present progressive tense.3. Moral objectsTo enable the students to care about others and their surroundings.Teaching Keys and Difficult Points1. Key points:1) To enable the Ss to use the following phases which include the present progressive tense: doing homework, using the computer, watching TV, eating dinner 2) To enable the Ss to talk about what are people doing. 2. Difficult points:The ing-form and its pronunciation.Analysis of the students As we all know, students are the center and master of our English class. So there is a need for me to analyze them precisely. These students are junior 1 students , they have learned English for at least half an hour, even some of them has learned English since from their Primary Schools. They are developing their English learning abilities, and they can also express their own opinions by using some simple sentences in English. Besides, they are curious about every thing, so I think they will like this lesson.The teaching and studying methodsOne: the teaching methodIn order to cultivate students abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson Ill mainly use “Communicative” teaching method and “Task-based” teaching method.Two: the studying methodAs for the studying method, I will1. Teach the students how to be successful language learners.2.
