Significance and Purpose In human language, word is the most direct factor of people to reflect their life. And every word records the meaning of life for people, and is also the representation of human culture. As for culture, language that is one of the treasures of literature is an important tool to express humans mind. In a language, color words are a special group of language words, color words express an important meaning of language, and it is restricted to its culture and different color word has different cultural connotation. Between different countries, the social cultures are different, that makes the meaning of the color words different, because of this, color words have different significance, and it takes the people from different place to infuse these color words with deep meaning. People make different colors imply different feelings. If we cannot understand the impact on different culture, we will have much difficulty in understanding the meaning of color words, as a result, color words of different social culture lead to discrepancy in cultures, all of these are because the places are different; the thinking modes of people from different places are different; the information what they want to express are different.Because of the culture distinction is an obstacle to inter-culture communication, to understand the distinction of culture is the most important thing for us, meanwhile understand the distinction of color words is helpful too. And this proposal is to analysis culture differences between Chinese and English color words. It can improve the skill when you talk with western foreigners, it can help people communicate and understand well about culture differences, and it may can give a good advice and offer some strategies for the people when they want to translate color words.2. Main Content The purpose of this proposal is to introduce color words and to compare the similarities and differences about color words. And analysis the reasons for different folk-custom and religious beliefs, different sense of people, and different social system of country. In human language, color words are frequently used to express peoples emotion and culture in different places. And There are kinds of color words in our life, red, black, white, green and so on. These kinds of colors are closely related to us, we can see them everywhere, and we use them everywhere. Due to the different background, tradition and culture, the meaning of color has different understand, and peoples feelings and expressions to color in the world are differ from each other in a thousand ways, so the symbolic meaning of color can produce great differences between Chinese and English culture.Nowadays Chinese and western communicate frequently, When we use the color words of the communication, what the most important thing we need to know is the different meaning of culture words between Chinese and English, so that we can understand each other better, also we can avoid making mistakes or misunderstandings.
