Theproductsofcombustionaredischargedthroughawater-cooledreentrantthroatattherearof

thecycloneintotheboilerfurnace.Essentially,thefundamentaldifferencebetweencyclone

furnacesandpulverizedcoal-firedfurnacesisthemannerinwhichcombustiontakesplace.In

pulverizedcoal-firedfurnaces,particlesofcoalmovealongwiththegasstream;consequently,

relativelylargefurnacesarerequiredtocompletethecombustionofthesuspendedfuel.With

cyclonicfiring,thecoalisheldinthecycloneandtheairispassedoverthefuel.Thus,large

quantitiesoffuelcanbefiredandcombustioncompletedinarelativelysmallvolume,andthe

boilerfurnaceisusedtocooltheproductsofcombustion.SeealsoBoiler;Steam-generating

17.沸腾炉fluidizedbedcombustion(FBC)boiler/Fluidizedbedcombustion

(FBC)isacombustiontechnologyusedinpowerplants.FBCplantsaremoreflexiblethan

conventionalplantsinthattheycanbefiredoncoalandbiomass,amongotherfuels.Fluidized

bedssuspendsolidfuelsonupward-blowingjetsofairduringthecombustionprocess.Theresult

isaturbulentmixingofgasandsolids.Thetumblingaction,muchlikeabubblingfluid,provides

moreeffectivechemicalreactionsandheattransfer.

Combustionsystemsforsolidfuels

FBCreducestheamountofsulfuremittedintheformofSOAemissions.Limestoneisusedto

precipitateoutsulfateduringcombustion,whichalsoallowsmoreefficientheattransferfromthe

boilertotheapparatususedtocapturetheheatenergy(usuallywatertubes).Theheated

precipitatecomingindirectcontactwiththetubes(heatingbyconduction)increasestheefficiency.

Sincethisallowscoalplantstoburnatcoolertemperatures,lessNOAisalsoemitted.However,

burningatlowtemperaturesalsocausesincreasedpolycyclicaromatichydrocarbonemissions.

FBCboilerscanburnfuelsotherthancoal,andthelowertemperaturesofcombustion(800℃/

1500°F)haveotheraddedbenefitsaswell.
