Prisonerswereofferedpardonsiftheytookpart.Onegroupofprisoners
receivedtheirusualfoods,mostlycornproducts.Asecondgroupatemeat,
freshvegetablesanddrankmilk.Membersofthefirstgroupdeveloped
pellagra.Thesecondgroupdidnot.
