IhavereceivedsoundacademictrainingsthatastudentofpsychologycanexpectinChina,excellingparticularlyinDevelopmentalPsychology,CognitivePsychology,ExperimentalPsychologyandothercorecourses,allofwhichhaveimpartedtomethenecessarytheoretical87/100GPAinPsychologyhasmademethetopstudentinmyclassandthewinnerofaseriesoftheuniversity’stop-levelanundergraduate,Ihaveattemptedatsometentativeresearchbysubmittingessaysandresearchpaperstoprovincial-levelanduniversity-leveljournals(pleaserefertomyResume).Inperformingthoseresearches,IfindthatIhavebenefitedconsiderablyfrommysolidmathematicsfoundationandtherelatedmethodology—myscorefortheAdvancedMathematicscourseis98/100whiletheSPSSwasnearlyfullhavemasteredimportantstatisticalandquantitativemethods,computerprogrammingandLISRELwithmuchfacilityandIexcelindesigningexperimentsandpreparingquestionnaires.

Iplantostudyfor.inBiochemistryatCaseWesternReserveUniversitywithspecialinterestsinmetabolism,macromolecularsynthesis,andproteincrystalgrowth.Ihavehadplentifulpreparations.First,whenbeinganundergraduateintheDepartmentofChemicalEngineeringatTsinghuaUniversity,Igotveryextensiveandintensiveeducation.Itookmanycoursesonchemistryandtherelatedsubjects,andearnedhighscoresformostofthem.Second,mymajor,Polymer,canbeputintogooduseinBiochemistryprogramsbecausePolymeriscloselyrelatedwithbiologicalMacromolecule.Third,Ihaveworkingexperiencethatenrichesmytheoryandlaboratoryskills.

BecauseofmyexcellentperformanceintheNationalOlympicMathematicsContestofHighSchoolStudentsin1994andmyoutstandingacademicrecordinseniorhighschool,IhadtheopportunitytobeadmittedtoPekingUniversityorTsinghuaUniversity,twomostselectiveuniversitiesinChina,waivedoftheAdmissionExamination.ButifItookthechance,Icouldn’tselectbiologicalsciencesasmymajor.SoIgaveupthepreciouschanceandtooktheAdmissionExamination.IsucceededandwasadmittedbytheDepartmentofBiochemistryandMolecularBiologyinPekingUniversity,whichranksfirstinbiologicalscienceeducationandresearchinChinaandhasraisedmanyscholarsincludingmembersofChineseAcademyofSciences.Inthefirstthreeyearsinuniversity,mycurriculumhasabroadrange,coveringbothnaturalandhumanitysciences,aswellasputtingemphasisnotonlyonbiologicalsciencesbutalsooncloselyrelatedcourses.Ihavededicatedmyenergytomystudyandhavereceivedacomplete,profoundandstricttraininginbiologicalscienceswiththecombinedstrengthofindividualandprofessors'help.Playingbasketballisalsoasolidpartofmycampuslife.IamanactivememberinthebasketballteamoftheCollegeofLifeSciencesinPekingUniversity.Asapointguard,theorganizeroftheteam'sattack,Ihavelearnedtomakethefiveplayerstobeastronggroupinagame.Lastyear,werankedthethirdinPekingUniversityCupamongthethirty-sixteams.Thisexperienceendowsmeastrongsenseofresponsibility,confidenceandteam-workingspirit.
