andfiveotheropticaldevices,layingthefoundationforChina,sprecisionoptical

instrumentindustry.In1961,theyindependentlydevelopedtherubylaserinChina.

Inadditiontoscientificresearch,Wangadvancedthestudyofopticsinhigher

Startinginthe1960s,Wangparticipatedinopticalresearchrelatedtothe

developmentofnuclearbombs,missiles,andman-madesatellites.In1970,China

successfullylaunchedtheDongfanghongIsatellite,ofwhichWangwasoneofthe
