ChapterOneIntroductionThereleaseofSoulin2020hasattractedwideattentionandheateddiscussioninthesociety.Theeconomyofcountriesaroundtheworldisdeclining,andpeople'slivingpressureisalsoincreasing.ThereleaseofthefilmSoulwillspreadtheuniquevaluesofthefilmtothepublic,givingatemporaryhealingtopeopleundergreatpressure.1.1DirectorProfilePeterHansDocterbornAugust10,1968inBloomington,Minnesota,isanAmericananimationfilmdirector,screenwriterandproducer,andgraduatedfromtheUniversityofMinnesota.In1995,hewrotetheanimatedadventurefilmToyStory.In2001,hedirectedhisfirstanimatedfilm,MonsterElectricPowerCompany,whichwasnominatedforthe74thAcademyAwards-BestAnimatedFeatureAward.In2002,hedirectedtheanimatedshortfilmTheNewCarwithBigEyes,whichwasnominatedforthe82ndAcademyAwards-BestOriginalScreenplay.In2007,heappearedinthedocumentaryfilmDisneyland:Secrets,StoriesandMagic.In2008,hewrotetheanimatedfilmWall-E,whichwasnominatedforthe82ndAcademyAwards--BestOriginalScreenplayAward.In2009,hewonthe37thAnnieAward-BestAnimatedFilmDirectorfortheanimatedcomedyfilmUp.In2013,hewastheproduceroftheanimatedcomedyfilm"MonsterUniversity".OnOctober6,2015,directedbyitsanimatedcomedyfilm"inagents"inChinesemainland,thefilmbyAmy,PhyllisSmithjointdubbing,filmwonthe88thOscarforbestanimatedfeaturefilm,the69thBritishacademyoffilmandtelevisionartsfilmaward-bestanimationandotherawards,whilehewonthe43rdAnnieaward-bestanimatedfilmdirector,screenwriter.1.2FilmIntroductionSoulisafantasyanimatedfilmco-producedbyWaltDisneyCompanyandPixarAnimationStudiosandco-directedbyPeterDocterandCapeBauers.ItisvoicedbyJamieFox,Tina,Philippines,FeliciaRasheadandothers.ThefilmwasreleasedontheChinesemainlandonDecember25,2020.ThefilmtellsthestoryofJoyGona,whodreamsofbecomingajazzpianist,meetingtheworld-wearinessSoul22,whoreturntotherealworldtofindthemeaningoflife.ThefilmwontheBestAnimatedFeatureAwardatthe78thGoldenGlobeAwardsin2021andtheBestAnimatedFeatureAwardatthe48thAnimationAnnieAwardsin2021.JoyGona,amiddleschoolmusicteacherwholovesjazz,unremittinglypursuedhisdreamandfinallygothisdreamchancetoplayonthestage.Butbecauseofanaccident,Joey'sbodyalmostdied,andtheSoulhaswanderedintoafantasyoutsideofhumanexperience——"theGreatbefore".[1]102Itturnsoutthatthe"theGreatbefore"isauniquespacewhereallSoulsexistbeforetheEarth.Here,humanself-consciousnessisfirstendowedbeforethebirthoflife,andeverysoulhastofinditsown"spark"whenitcandevoteitselftotheearth.Itisalsohere,determinedtoreturntotheearthJoymetasolitary,precociousandworld-wearinesssoul22,thelatterbecauseofthedelaytofindtheirown"spark",andlongwanderingstayhere.Theexperienceofastrangecombinationofcircumstances,Joeyand22fateimplicatedeachother,twopeoplereturntotheearth,experiencedaparagraphofstrangeandwonderfullifejourneytogether,andbegintoreconstructthevalueandmeaningofoneselfexistence.Movieisacollectionofmovingimageswhichmadebyadirectorthroughascriptorfictionstorythatcanbedevelopedandhasaspecificmessageorpurpose.ComparedwiththeWest,China’sAnimatedMoviesseriesandfilmindustrystartedlateanddevelopedslowly.ToacceleratethedevelopmentofChina’sfilmandtelevisionindustry,peoplecanlearnfromadvancedWesternfilmsandtelevisionworks,amongwhichcharacterdesignisamajortheme.Soulisanexcellentmovie.
