IntroductionLearningEnglishasaforeignlanguageinpreschoolshasbecomeanincreasingtrendinmanycountriesacrosstheworld.Therearenumerousmethods,techniques,andtools.Amongthem,languageimmersionisnormallyusedasthemainteachingmethodinpreschools.Teachersusedifferentforeignlanguageteachingmethodsaccordingtodifferentsituations.TotalPhysicalResponse(TPR),games,rhymes,songs,phonics,sightwords,storiesanddramaarefrequentlyusedtogetchildrenengagedinthelearningprocess.

⑶BasicprinciplesofteachingEnglishtochildren3.UsingmothertonguewhennecessaryTeachersaregoingtoneedthemothertongueespeciallyinthebeginningwhensettingdisciplineandclassrules,oratanytimewhenhavingdifficultiesexplaininganactivityinEnglish.Dousetheexpressionsnecessaryifyouneedtomanagetheclassrightfromthestart,childrenwillquicklybegintounderstandandusethemgradually.Usemothertonguelessandlessastheschoolyearprogresses.

⑶BasicprinciplesofteachingEnglishtochildren4.DealingwithpronunciationMakesurethatchildrenseethelipsoftheteacherifhe/shespeaks.Itisperfectlynormalforachildnottobeabletopronouncecertainsounds.Themajorityofchildrenwillgetoverthisproblemastheygetolder.Justbepatient.Youngchildrenneedtohearthedifferentsoundsintheforeignlanguage.Focusonaparticularsoundandaskthechildrentopronounceitonebyone,donotovercorrectpronunciation.

⑶BasicprinciplesofteachingEnglishtochildren5.DealingwithmistakesRepeating,encouragingandpraisingcanhelpchildrentoovercomemistakes.Overtlycorrectionmightdiscouragethem.Someusefultechniquesare:KeeptheirageandlevelofEnglishinmind.Theideasaremoreimportantthanthegrammar.Onlycorrectthemistakesthatareimportant.Useactionstohelpcorrectanswers.“Model”thecorrectformofthelanguage.Ifonechildsays“Mewentedhome.”,theteachercansay,“Yes,youwenthome.Whatdidyoudothen?”Encouragechildrentocorrectthemselves,thiswillbuildconfidenceanddeepenthelearningprocess.Providetwoversionsandletthechildrendecidewhichiscorrect.Givelotsofpraiseandencouragementforeveryeffort–theycan’tknoweverything.

⑶BasicprinciplesofteachingEnglishtochildren6.IntroducingclassroomlanguagegraduallyThepurposeofclassroomlanguageistomanagetheclassroom,toinstructchildrenwhattodo,tomotivatethem,toprovidefeedbackandtoprovidelanguageinput.Chooseafewexpressionsofclassroomlanguagetoteachthechildrenatthebeginningoftheterm.TheteachercangraduallyintroducenewclassroomlanguagewithTPRorflashcards.Whattheteacherssayisasimportantashowtheteacherssay.Teachers’attitudestothechildrenareconveyedthroughtheirtoneofvoice,useofpausingandfacialexpression.Gesturesandbodylanguageshallbeincludedtopromoteunderstanding.Toomuchteachertalkwillleadtolossofconcentra
