定语从句

关系副词when,where,why的用法引导定语从句的关系副词有when,where,why

等。它们和关系代词一样放在先行词的后面起引导作用,同时在定语从句中分别充当时间、地点和原因状语。

1).when指时间,在定语从句中作时间状语。如:

Canyoustillrememberthateveningwhenwemetforthefirsttime?

2).where指地点,在定语从句中作地点状语。如:

CanyoushowmethehousewhereShakespearelived?

3).why指原因,在定语从句中作原因状语。如:

Idon’tknowthereasonwhyhedidn’ttellittohisfather.

1).when指时间,用于修饰表示时间概念的先行词:time,moment,day,season,year...作时间状语。如:Canyoustillrememberthateveningwhenwemetforthefirsttime?

I'llneverforgetthedaywhenIfirstmetyou.2).where指地点,用于修饰表示地点概念的先行词:place,house,city,country,world...作地点状语。如:CanyoushowmethehousewhereShakespearelived?IwenttohavealookattheroomwhereIwastolivein.

where定语从句修饰抽象名词的用法:

point(地步),case(情况),activity(活动),situation(处境),position(境地)Youreachapointwheremedicinecan‘thelp.

你已到了药物无法治疗的地步。Hegotintoasituationwhereitishardtodecidewhatisrightandwrong.他陷入一种难以分辨是非的处境。1.Beijingisthecitywhere

someyoungpeoplegotocontinuetheireducationafterleavinghighschool.Relativeadverbs:when,where,why“介词+which”在定语从句中作时间、地点、原因状语,分别相当于关系副词when,where,why。Shetillrememberthedayonwhichshegraduatedfromuniversity.whenon/during/in/...whichThebeautifulcityinwhichmostofuswerebornedisHengyang.whereCanyoutellmethereasonforwhichyouchosetogotohighschool?whyin/at/on/...which

注意:不要一见到先行词为时间、地点、原因等,就用关系副词when,where,why等,还要看它们在定语从句中充当什么成分。关系副词在定语从句中通常只能作状语,所以若定语从句缺主语或宾语,则不能选用关系副词,而要用关系代词,即使其前的先行词是时间、地点、原因等。如:换句话说,要求分析从句的谓语动词和先行词之间构成_________还是___________。例如:

1)Istillrememberthedays

whichwespenttogether.(动宾关系)2)Istillrememberthedays

when(=inwhich)weworkedtogether.(动状关系)动宾关系动状关系Don’tforgetthetime(that/which)I’vetoldyou.不要忘记我告诉你的时间。(that,which用作定语从句

youcanborrow.(1)先行词为all,everything,nothing,anything,little,much等不定代词时。注意:以下情况中只能用关系代词that引导定语从句I’vereadevery

bookthatisborrowedfromthelibrary.(2)先行词被all,every,no,some,any,(a)

few,(a)little,much等修饰时。I’vereadallthebooksthat

areaboutthismatter.

(3)先行词被theonly,thevery,theright,thelast修饰时。Thisistheverybookthatbelongstohim.Thisisthefirstbookthathehasread.ThisisthemostinterestingbookthatIhaveeverread.(4)先行词被序数词或形容词最高级修饰时。(5)先行词是并列结构,既有人又有物时。Hetalkedhappilyofthewriterandhisbooks
