marketshare.Amongitsover11,000staffmembers,ofwhomeighty-fivepercentareuniversit
ygraduates,fortypercentareengagedinR&Dandthirty-fivepercentinmarketingandafter-
salesservices.Huaweihassetuprepresentativeofficesandcustomerservicecentersinthe
largecitiesacross33provincesormunicipalitiesdomestically.Italsohastwosubsidiary
institutionsinBeijingandShanghai.BesidesajointventureinRussia,thepanyhasestabli
shedrepresentativeofficesinHongKong,Russia,theUnitedStates,theMiddleEast,Africa
n,SouthAsianandSouthAmericancountriesaswell.Itsproductshavebeensoldinmorethan11
countriesorregions.ResearchandDevelopment(R&D)isveryimportanttoanyhi-techpany.H
uaweiallocatesnolessthantenpercentofitssalesineintoR&Deachyear.In1998,itsR&Dfun
dtotaled106millionUSdollarsandisestimatedtobe180millionUSdollarsin1999.Nowthere
areover4,000expertsandtechniciansdevotedtoR&DinHuawei,ofwhomseventypercentarema
sterordoctorgraduatesorpostdoctoralresearchers.Theself-developedproductsofHuawe
icanbedividedintofourcategories:wired,wireless,datamunicationsandpowersupplypro
ducts-rangingfromswitching,transmission,mobilemunications,intelligentnetwork,su
pportingnetwork,datamunications,ATMandterminalproductstootherkeyteletechnologyf
ields.Withitsindependentlydevelopedcoretechnology,Huaweihasbeeanall-roundsuppli
erofdigitalteleequipment.ThemostimportantofallisthatHuaweiproductsarebasedonits
independentlydesignedICchips.Its0.25umASICdesigningcapabilityhasenabledHuaweito
beeoneofthemostadvancedinthisfieldintheworld.Chinaisthesecondlargesttelemarketi
ntheworld.Theinvestmentinteleinfrastructurevalues36.3billionUSdollars.China'ste
leequipmentmarketisalsothemostpetitiveoneopentothewholeworldinwhichLucent,Sieme
ns,Ericsson,NEC,Motorola,AlcatelandNorTeljoinedsuccessively.Inthisfiercepetitio
nenvironment,Huawei'smajorproductshavetakenbetweentwentytothirtypercentmarketsh
are.Forsomeproducts,themarketshareisevenashighasseventypercent.Besides,itsswitc
hingequipment,supportingnetworkandintelligentnetworkhavebeemoreandmorewidelyuse

erstoOracleOrderEntryaftertheproductandorderhavebothbeenappropriatelyconfigured.Afterimporting,theusercanpletetheorderadministrationandfulfillmentprocesses.Thesecapabilitiesareavailablewithbothtetheredanduntetheredmodesofoperation,withthedifferencebeingoneoftiming.Whenoperatingintetheredmode,theuserisabletocustomizetheon-linesharingofinformationbetweenOracleandSellingPoint.Also,theSellingPointapplicationofferstheOrderEntryATPfunctionalityasfeedbackinformationthattheusercanrequestafterenteringquotes/orders.Thisallowstheusertoobtainpromiseshipdatesforconfigurationsbasedontheavailabilityofasubsetofponentsidentifiedassupplyconstrained.Inuntetheredmodeoperation,theuserwillhavetoactuatecustomerandpricinginformationsharingonauserdefinablefrequencybasis.Inotherwords,thedatareplicationnecessarytosupportuntetheredmodeoperation,andthefrequencyof,andproceduresfor,updatingitistobedefinedbytheapplicationdeveloper.Changestocustomconfigurationdetailsandoptionquantitiesonsalesordersafterbookingtheorderisallowed.Theseincludeorderlinemodificationsorcancellationsforacustomconfigurations.UsingnativeSe
