Themovie"E.TtheExtra-Terrestrial"mademyheartglad.Itisfilledwithinnocence,hope,andgoodcheer.Itisalsowickedlyfunnyandexcitingaswell."E.TtheExtra-Terrestrial"isamoviethatyoucangrowupwithandgrowoldwith,anditwon'tletyoudown.Ittellsastoryaboutfriendshipandlove.Somepeoplearealittlebaffledwhentheyhearwhatitdescribed:It'saboutarelationshipbetweenalittleboyandacreaturefromouterspacethatbecomeshisbestfriend.Itworksassciencefiction,it'ssometimesasscaryasamonstermovie,andattheend,whenthelightsgoup,there'snotadryeyeinthehouse.

Themovie'sheroisoneparticularlittleboynamedElliott.He'snatural,defiant,easilytouched,conniving(纵容的),braveandchildlike.Alotofthoseachievementsreston(依靠)theverypeculiar(特殊的)shouldersoftheE.T.itself.Withitsoddlittlewalk,itshigh-pitchedsqueals(尖叫声)ofsurprise,itstentativeimitations(模仿)ofhumanspeech,anditscatlikebutdefinitelyalienpurring,E.T.becomesoneofthemostintriguingfictionalcreaturesI'veeverseenonascreen.AndoneofthewaysE.T.communicatesistoshareitsemotionswithElliott.That'showElliottknowsthattheE.T.wantstogohome

OneofthemostoverallpleasingmoviesI'veseen,ScentofaWomanwinsonalllevels--emotionalandintellectual.OfcoursetheprimaryreasonitsucceedsisAlPacino,whoseOscarwaswell-deserved,needlesstosay.ChrisO'Donnelldoesn'toverplayhispart,andindoingsoitisrealisticandnatural.Thetangoscene,theFerrariscene,thepseudo-courtroomsceneareexcellent.Pacinoiswhollybelievable,andalthoughatfirstheseemsoverly(过度的)gruffandnasty,wegrowtosympathizewithhim--especiallywhenthattwerpRandyinsultshimcutthroat-styleatThanksgiving.It'sobviousthatwhileSladeactslikehedoesn'tcare,hisrepetitious"hoo-ha"responsemakesitobvioushedoes.MyfavoritelinecomesduringtheFerrariscene(Iwaslaughingsohardwhenthecop(警察)left,failingtorealizeSladeisblind.)AsSladecareensdownthestreetat70mph,Charlieyells,"You'regoingtogetuskilled!"Sladeanswers,"Canyoublameme?I'mblind!"Onthatnote,Pacinosucceedsmarvellously(不可思议的)inportraying(扮演)ablindman.Weneverdoubtforasecondthathedoes,infact,liveintotaldarkness.Yetothers,likethecop,probablythespectators(观众)intherestaurantinthetangoscene,don'trealizeit.Ironically(讽刺的)enough,Sladeactsasthoughhedoesn'twanttobetreatedastheproverbialblindmanwhoneedsacaneandaguidingarm.However,inthefinalscenebeforehischarismaticspeech,heemergeswithanever-before-seenpairofdarkglasses,Iwonder,wasthistothrowthemoffguard?

Thismovieisamodernclassic.Somefindittoolong,butIenjoyediteveryminuteanddidn'tactuallynoticethetwoandahalfhourshasgoneby.It‘sawonderfulfilmthatIwillrecommendtoall.

ScentOfAWomanisanextremelydifferentfilmfromthosewehaveeverseenincinemabefore.Ittellsthestoryofa"towndrunk"whoisblindandalsohadagreatserviceintheUnitedStates.AlPacinoplaystheblindmanandChrisO'DonnellplaysthepartofCharlie,whoishiredtotakecareofPacinoforaweekend.IfoundthisfilmhumorousinsomeareasbecauseofthewayPacino'scharacteracts.AlPacinohasneverplayedacharacterlikethisbeforeandheexecutedthepartverywell!Pacino'seyesarealwayspointedintheoppositedirectionhewouldbelookingasifheweren'tblind,whichisbrilliant.ScentOfAWoman'smoodandsettingmadethisfilmenchantinginasense.IttookplaceinawhiteandgrayskyAutumnmoodduringaThanksgivingweekend.O'DonnellattendsanIvyLeagueschoolandmayormaynothavewitnessedaschemethatinvolvedhumiliatingateacherinfrontofmanystudents.Pacinoconstructsalistofthingshewantstodoandatthebottomofthelistiskillinghimself.ScentOfAWomandidwellattheAcademyAwards,FINALLYgivingAlPacinoanOscar.Iwasverythankfulforthe"Academy"awardingPacinoanOscar,butheshouldhavereceivedonealongtimeagoforTheGodfather,Serpico,DogDayAfternoon,Scarface,orGlengarryGlenRoss.Hopefullyhewillreceiveanotheronelateroninhiscareer.However,itdidnotrecognizeChrisO'Donnellforhisfantasticactinginthisfilm,whichdisappointedmeverymuch.Thismovieissomewhatemotionalaswell.IwouldrecommendthatyourentthisfilmduringThanksgivingorinthefall.ScentOfAWomanisaveryunique,entertaining,wonderfulfilm.

grossedover$636milliondollarsandalsowontheOscarforBestPictureof1994.Thefilmaffirmspossibilityandhope:nomatterhowgrimthingsmayseem,itispossible,asGumpsays,"toputthepastbehindyouandmoveon."Heshowsthatagimpykidinlegbracescanbecomeafootballhero,winaCongressionalMedalofHonorforbraveryinVietnam,becomeaPingPongchampion,crisscrossAmericafromseatoshiningsea,andmarryhischildhoodsweetheart,whobearshimasontocarryonthefather'sgoodname.

Thecomedy"LegallyBlonde",starringanirrepressibleReeseWitherspoon,isanewtwistontheoldadage,"Looksaren'teverything".

ElleWoodsisasuper-blonde,super-rich,super-sororitygirlfromCalifornia.Whenshe'sdumpedbyherHarvardLawSchool-boundboyfriendWarner—becauseshe'stooblondetobeconsideredseriouslyaswifematerial:"IfI'mgoingtobeaSenator,IneedtomarryaJackie,notaMarilyn."—shefightsback,afteralongcry,nailbymanicurednail,firstbyfollowingWarnertoHarvardLawSchool,abandoninghermajorinfashionmerchandisingforsomethingmoresubstantial,thenby

provingthatjustbecauseyou'reblondedoesn'tmeanyou'reajoke.

Ofcourse,weknowthatEllewillmeeteverychallengethatshefacesandwindupwithbothalegalcareerandMr.Right—evenifhe'snottheoriginalone.Butwestillrootforherallthewaybecausesheprovestobeadecentandgenerouspersonunderalltheridiculoussurfacefrippery.Indeed,Ms.Witherspoonwonmeoverrightfromthestart,duringElle'slastdinnerdatewithWarner.Asheindirectlyleadsuptohisbombshellrejection,herfacebecomesasymphonyoffast-changingexpressionsdenotingagreementandobedienceuntilshebreaksdownfromtheshockofWarner'sbadnews.It'sanexpertlyactedpieceofself-parodythatneverdiminishesherattractiveness.

Themovie,however,isfullofgoodhumor.BasedonthenovelofthesamenamebyAmandaBrown,"LegallyBlonde"isasassysatirethatretainsamessage:believeinyourselfandfollowyourdreams.Besidesbeingfunny,it'sanodetoself-empowerment—especiallygirlpower—anditstargetaudienceofyoungwomeneverywherewillgobbleituplikethelatestglossyeditionofCosmopolitanmagazine.(BasedonthereviewbyPaulClinton,CNNReviewer;AndrewSarris,NewYorkObserver)

Naturally,she'saccepted.NothingwillstophernowasshecampaignsalloverHarvardtowinbackherman.Callitblondeambition.

"LegallyBlonde"becomesa"blonde-out-of-water"storyashersnobbyfellowlawstudentsbegintakingbetsonhowlongshe'lllast.Meanwhile,shediscoversthatWarnerisn'tworthalltheeffort.Succeedinginlawschoolbecomesapersonalgoal,andnotmerelyameanstowinbackhershallowboytoy.She'sabubblyblondewithbrains.HerpointsofreferencemaynotbePlatoandSocrates,butsheprovesthatknowledgeaboutClinique,Porschesandlipglossalsocancomeinhandyinaclassroomoracourtroom.

Thesupportingcastisawinningbunch.SelmaBlairisexcellentasVivianKensington,whohassnaggedWarnerandiswearinghisgrandmother'ssix-caratHarryWinstondiamondengagementringonher"bony"finger.

LukeWilsonplaysEmmettRichmond,asomewhatthanklessroleasathird-yearlawstudentwhofallsinlovewiththeinnerwomanbeneathElle'sgoldenlocks.

First-timefeaturefilmdirectorRobertLuketicisanAustraliannativewhohasbeendedicatedtobecomingafilmdirectorsincetheageof15.Thisdebutprojectseeshimwellonhisway.

Fullofclichésandpopculturereferences,andpepperedwithtrendyslang,"LegallyBlonde"has

ThestorybeginsintheearlyyearsofNash'slifeatPrincetonUniversity,wherehestrugglestothinkofanoriginalidea,andwhereinoneofthemovie'smostgimmicky—andelegant—sceneshedevelopsatheorythatwillrevolutionizeeconomicsandmathematics.Nashiseccentric,sociallyawkward,andextremelycompetitive.Eventually,hefindstheinspirationforhisinnovativeandinfluentialworkongametheory.He‘schosenforapostatMIT,whichincludescrucialcode-breakingworkfortheUSgovernment.There,hemeetsabeautifulandbrilliantstudent,Alicia(playedbyJenniferConnelly).Theymarrybuttheirhappinessisthreatened,asNashdescendsintomadnesswhenhe‘sdiagnosedasschizophrenic,enduringparanoidanddelusionalepisodeswhilepainfullywatchingthelossandburdenhisconditionbringsonhiswifeandfriends.Crowedeliversastrongperformance,andhasrealchemistrywithConnelly.Thetwomakethestoryaboutthepoweroflovebelievableandmoving.

Unbelievable?Yes.What'smoreunbelievableisthatsomehowthewholethingworks–JackBlack'sover-the-topenthusiasmforhissubjectiscontagious,theedge-of-disastersuspenseiscontinuedthroughoutthelengthofthemovie,andbytheendtheaudienceissodesperatetoseehowthekids(whoallplaytheirowninstrumentsbytheway)performintheconcertinwhichseatwettingwouldprobablygounnoticed.JoanCusack,asthegobsmackedheadmistress,deliversaperformancethatisworththepriceofyourcinematicketinitself.Achievingsuchtears-down-thecheekslaughterandexcitementforairguitarmusicisnothingshortofmiraculous.

SchoolofRockisamoviethatpromisesentertainmentanditdelivers.Everythingisasitsaysonthepacket.Forsheerfeel-goodfactor,thismovieisunbeatable–andyoucaneventakethekids!

Thelittleproblemthat'MatchstickMen'hasisthatthereisnotarealhighpointinthemovieiftheendingwasn'tthere.Ithinkthemoviestartsasaverygoodmovie.RoyWallerandFrankMercerareconartistsandthemovieopenswithshowinghowtheycollectsomemoney.ItisnotasgreatashowGeorgeClooneydoesitin'OutofSight'butit'salotoffun.AfterthisthemovieshowswhoRoyis,aguywithallkindofweirdthings.Spasms,panicattacks,compulsivebehavior.Hewantsthingsclean,hewantsthingsacertainway,orhebecomesalittlecrazy.HehaspillsforthesethingsbuthelosesthemandthisishowhemeetsDr.Klein,apsychiatrist.

BecauseofhimRoylearnshehasa14-yearolddaughterAngela,whowasactually24.Hewantstocareforher,spendtimewithher,andevenrevealswhathereallyis.InagreatscenesheshowsherfatherandushowshewouldbeifshehadthesamejobasRoy.RoyandFrankhaveabigjobplannedwheretheywouldcollect80,000dollarsfromaguynamedFrechette.InawaytheyaretakingmoneybutRoylooksatitdifferently.Hethinks,andheisactuallyright,thattheyjustgiveittohim.Becauseitisallillegaltheycan'tcomplainaftertheyarecheated.

OneofmyfavoritescenesinthismovieistheonewhereRoyteachesAngelahowtocon.Heisaconman(well,hemorewouldliketocallhimself'aconartist'),butisalsoa14yearsdaughter'sfathernow.Heteachesherconandisalsotryingtoteachher'moral'atthesametime.Thisiskindofcontradictionandstrange,butisinterestingwayofshowingtherelationshipbetweenthem,too.Ilikethatverymuch.
