14Oneofthemostimportantreasonsforthehugesuccessofconcurrentengineeringisthatbydefinitionitredefinesthebasicdesignprocessstructurethatwasbasedonasequentialdesignflow,sometimescalledthe‘WaterfallModel’.Concurrentengineeringsignificantlymodifiesthisoutdatedmethodandinsteadoptstousewhathasbeentermedaniterativeorintegrateddevelopmentmethod.ThetwodesignprocessescanbeseengraphicallyinFigure1.
