TableII-PreventivemaintenanceSpecialSpecialequipmentindicatedinthismanualisnotpartofthewheelsetsupply(ifnotdifferentlyindicatedinthepurchasecontract).1Inspectionandrevisionfrequenciesreportedhereareinitialprescriptionsbutarenotgrantedbythesolidwheelsr,thereforetheycanbeimprovedonthebasisofexperiencefeedbackduringtheinitialphasesofvehicleservice.VisualBeforeBeforestartinganywork,thevehiclemustbestationaryandputoutofWheelvisualAcarefulvisualinspectionshallbeconductedwiththepurposeofcheckingtheabsenceofcracksorofotherdefectswhichcouldcausetherimorthesolidwheeltobreak.Forinformativepurposes,thezonesandthetypeofcrackswhichmayariseintherimareillustratedinFigure10.Figure10-PositionandtypeofcrackswhichcanarouseinthetyreortyreInordertoperformthefollowingoperationsitisnecessarytodescendintotheinspectionpit.Rimrollingsurfacesmustbecarefullyobserved(mainpartsareshowninFigure7):ifnecessary,cleanwitharagbeforeinspectionandrepeatthecontrolbyslightlymovingthetrainontherailsoastobeabletoinspectthewholewheelrollingsurfaces.VehicleinNoroughnessorirregularities(e.g.steps)mustbepresentonthetransitionbetweentherollingsurfaceandtheflange.Noimpressions,scratchesorwheeltreadrollovermustbepresentonthetiporontheinnersideoftheflange;theyareindexofanomalouscontactwithpoints,switchesorguardrails.Thecontactsurfaceduetotheverticalwheel-railcontact(alsonearthetyreoutersideoftherim)mustnotbeconcentratedbutuniformlyextended(asmoreaspossible)alongthetransversaltyreprofile.Thepresenceoftheweargroove(seeFigure11detail“Z”)mustbeverified;itmustbeintegerandalwaysfullyvisibleafterre-profilingandinservice,allalongitswholeextension.ThedecisioncriteriaareshowninFigure12:AnotB functionalityofanti-skidandanti-slipsystemsmustbeverified.Thewearlimitdiameterisdefinedinthewheeldesignphaseandisindicatedtherelateddrawing.Thelastre-profilingdiametershallbedefinedbytherelativetothewearlimitdiametersothatitdoesnothavealowervalueinBesidestheabovelisteddefects,nocracksareallowedonanypartofthewheelsurfaces.(seechapter9.4.4).Besidestheabovelisteddefects,nocracksareallowedonanypartofthewheelsurfaces.(seechapter9.4.4).Figure11-InspectionofoilinjectionboreandwearFigure12-WeargroovedecisionFordefectstolerabilityconditions,serviceandmaintenancenormsmustbereferredto(seechapter9.4).Inthecaseofevidentweardefectsordamagestotheflange,theusualservicetrackequipmentmustbeinspected.WheelsetswithdamagedrollingareasmustnotbekeptinserviceWheelsetswithdamagedrollingareasmustnotbekeptinservicesincethelocaldamage,becauseofvibrations,canquicklyextendtoothervehiclecomponents.Foranyfurtherinformationonvisualandinstrumentalinspectionsandforeventualacceptationlimitsseechapter9.4.AxlevisualInordertoperformtheseoperations,itisnecessarytoworkfromtheinspectionpitandtothattheaxleshavenotexternal(marks,incisions)onpaintedsurfacesInthecaseofsmallpaintingdeta
