讲英语数学论文的写作(二）ProfessionalPaperWriting写作及投稿【写作前准备】1、自己的研究结果是否够发一篇SCI或一般英文文章？2、适合发表在什么杂志？是选择专业期刊？还是综合期刊？3、是什么类型的投稿（Typesofsubmission）？比如Articles（论著）；Reviews（综述）；Reports（报告）；Lettertoeditor（来信）等。4、该杂志的影响因子（Impactfactor）是多少，每年发表多少文章？是否有过本土中国人在上面发表？（便于评价自己的文章被接收的可能性）。【写作前准备】5、有没有下载该杂志最新的投稿须知（Instructionsforauthors）？(例：教材P254-259.)6、是否弄清楚了投稿须知各个条目的意思？7、是否接收网上投稿(Submissiononline)（一般有网上投稿的杂志更为方便）？8、是否收版面费(Pagecharges)？如果论文被接收，自己的经济能力能否支付该杂志的发表全部费用。9、手头有多少相关内容的文献？（越多越好，这样写作的时候能借鉴他们的思路和语句，对分析讨论的开展也很有好处）【写作环节】1、不要用中国式的思维去写英文句子。2、套用老外的写作思路（比如前言第1段写对问题的认识及重要性，第2段对基本背景知识的介绍，第3段如何引出研究问题。讨论部分往往每一段第一句为该段的中心句。）3、格式一定要严格按照所投杂志的要求来排版（可以参考投稿须知的要求和该杂志最近发表的文章，要做到一模一样，这样编辑认为你是认真对待的）。4、避免使用“首次发现、该研究特别有意义。。。”等语句（老外喜欢你陈述事实，是不是首次发现由别人说了算，有没有意义需要时间来检验）。【写作环节】5、首页有什么特殊要求？比如是否写清了通讯作者（Correspondingauthor）和页眉标题（Runningtitle），Runningtitle是否符合字符数要求，一般50个字符以下。首页是否要求标明全文字符数（Thenumberofcharactersmustbelistedonthetitlepage）。首页是否要求提供关键词（Keywords)，现在很多杂志在正式出版的时候是看不到关键词的，其多数目的是为了编辑好选择审稿专家。6、摘要是否为有特殊格式（比如摘要格式：目的，方法，结果，结论），是否有字数限制（比如205个字以下）。【写作环节】7、注意参考文献（References）一定要符合杂志的格式，参考文献的数目是否有限制。是否引用正在出版的（Inpress）文章或未公开的（Unpublisheddata）数据。8、是否引用了较多著名杂志的文章为参考文献（影响因子超过10的杂志文章，他们引用的文献多数也是来自10以上的杂志，也就是说投高影响因子的杂志就尽量不要引用低档杂志的文章，这是一条潜规则）。9、引用了几篇该杂志的文章作为参考文献（有的杂志有明确要求要引几篇，有的没有要求，但是编辑在还是喜欢你多引他们杂志的文章）。【写作环节】10、写完后最好先找一个在国外呆过几年的中国人修改第1次（这样能纠正明显写作错误和表达，又明白你的写作意思），然后再找一个英语为母语的人修改（最好是相关专业的，这样能够纠正一些微小错误和表达习惯）。最终的目的是即使退稿也不是因为语言问题。人家修改完了注意在回信中致谢：Thankyouverymuchfortheexcellentandprofessionalrevisionofourmanuscript.Infuture,IwillsendyoumyEnglishmanuscriptsforproofreading!Iwillacknow-ledgeyourhelpinthefootnote.并在文章中致谢(Wethank***forcriticalreadingofthemanuscript.)【写作环节】11、注意文章中不要有中文输入法情况下的标点符号(老外的计算机操作系统可能识别为乱码或者为非法程序)12、标点符号是否正确？空格是否恰当？13、注意缩写的格式,时间表示的格式,希腊字母的格式。14、该斜体的地方是否是斜体。15、图表是否符合杂志的数目(Number)、大小(Size)和分辨率(Resolution)要求？有几副彩图（建议能设置为灰度的图就改成灰度的图，比如一些统计结果图。因为彩图收费（Colorcharges）是很贵的）16、图的格式类型是否有要求，一般只接收EPS或TIFF格式。图的模式是否有要求，比如现在很多杂志要求RGB模式。【写作环节】17、图表是放在后面，还是插入在文章中。(看投稿须知要求)。18、字数是否符合杂志要求（有的杂志对字数也有要求。比如最多8个版面。他一般会告诉你怎么推测自己的文章占几个版面，比如有的杂志大约是8000个字符数(characters)（包括空格）为一个版面）。19、全文的字号是否符合要求。（一般是12号字(12-point)，双倍行距（Doublespace））。20、是否进行了致谢（国外的文章一般都会致谢。一般要求写受什么基金资助，谁对文章改了，谁进行了技术帮助，谁提供了一些实验材料等；其中很多杂志基金资助一般写在Footnote中）。论文的结构 Title(标题)Abstract(摘要)Keywords(关键词)Tableofcontents(目录)Nomenclature(术语表)Introduction(引言) Method(方法) Results(结果) Discussion(讨论) Conclusion(结论)Acknowledgement(致谢)Notes(注释)References(参考文献)Appendix(附录)正文body一篇完整规范的学术论文结构如左所示，其中：Title，Abstract，Introduction，Method，Result，Discussion，Conclusion和Reference八项内容是必不可少的，其他内容则根据具体需要而定Title&AbstractTitleeyecatchingAbstractAbstractisaVERYimportantpartofyourpaperPurpose:SummaryofyourworkandcontributionsBasically,hereisyouradvertisementofyourpaper:whatyouwanttosell?PeopledecidetocontinuetoreadornowbasedonitStyle?Whatistheproblem?Whatisyoursolutionandresults?AbstractTrytobeconcisebutincludethefollowingDescribetheproblem/issueaddressedinthepaper(Whatisit?Isitreallyimportant?Challenging?)Statethemotivations(fillingagap?overcominginadequatenessandweaknessofexistingsolutions?)Highlighttheideasandfeaturesofyourwork(incomparisonwithexistingones–advantages?improvement?)Highlightthemainresultsofevaluation(analyticalorexperimental)【摘要的内容与结构】Ø

目的(objectives，purposes)：包括研究背景、范围、内容、要解决的问题及解决这一问题的重要性和意义。Ø

方法(methodsandmaterials)：包括材料、手段和过程。Ø

结果与简短讨论(resultsanddiscussions)：包括数据与分析。Ø

结论(conclusions)：主要结论，研究的价值和意义等。概括地说，摘要必须回答“研究什么”、“怎么研究”、“得到了什么结果”、“结果说明了什么”等问题。无论哪种摘要，语言特点和文体风格也都相同。首先必须符合格式规范。第二，语言必须规范通顺，准确得体，用词要确切、恰如其分，而且要避免非通用的符号、缩略语、生偏词。另外，摘要的语气要客观，不要做出言过其实的结论。【公认的英文摘要写作规范】1）句子完整、清晰、简洁。2）用简单句。为避免单调，改变句子的长度和句子的结构。3）用过去时态描述作者的工作，因它是过去所做的。但是，用现在时态描述所做的结论。4）

避免使用动词的名词形式。如：正：“Thicknessofplasticsheetwasmeasured”误：“measurementofthicknessofplasticsheetwasmade”5）

正确地使用冠词，既应避免多加冠词，也应避免蹩脚地省略冠词。如：正：“Pressureisafunctionofthetemperature”误：“Thepressureisafunctionofthetemperature”;6)避免使用长的、连串的形容词、名词、或形容词加名词来修饰名词。为打破这种状态，可使用介词短语，或用连字符连接名词词组中的名词，形成修饰单元。7)使用短的、简单的、具体的、熟悉的词,不使用华丽的词藻。8)使用主动语态而不使用被动语态。“AexceedsB”读起来要好于“BisexceededbyA”。使用主动语态还有助于避免过多地使用类似于“is”,“was”,“are”和“were”这样的弱动词。9)避免使用那些既不说明问题，又没有任何含意的短语。例如：“speciallydesignedorformulated”，“Theauthordiscusses”，“Theauthorstudied”应删去。不使用俚语、非英语的句子，慎用行话和口语。【公认的英文摘要写作规范】IntroductionOneofthemostimportantpartsofyourpaperPeopleusuallyreadcarefullyonAbstractandIntroductiontofindoutwhatisinyourpapersoastodecidewhetheritworthfurtherreading,sodon’tmakethemdisappointedYoucanwriteIntroductionbyexpandingtheabstractMostimportantistoshowhowyourworkismotivated(background),focusofthepaper,mainideas,andsignificanceofresults.Sellyourwork-usestrongtones!AddoutlineofpaperRelatedworkTellpeoplethebackgroundandexistingworksrelatedtoyourresearchItcanalsobeplacedattheendofthepaper(beforeConclusion),dependingonwhetheryourworkheavilydependsontheseworksornotPurpose:drawthedifferencesRelatedworkBelucid–summarizeandclassifyexistingworksbydescribingthemainapproachesusedandresultsofimportantworks.Don’tsimplygiveapaper-by-paperdescriptionwithoutlogicaldevelopment.Becriticalbutskillfulinpointingouttheweaknessofexistingworks–Don’toverlycriticize.Wheneverpossible,comparethemwithyourproposedsolutionYoucanborrowideas/techniquesfromthembutmusthavesomenewstuff(improvementorextension,orapplythemtonewenvironment.【正文】学术论文的正文一般包括Method，Result，Discussion三个部分。这三部分主要描述研究课题的具体内容、方法，研究过程中所使用的设备、仪器、条件，并如实公布有关数据和研究结果等。Conclusion是对全文内容或有关研究课题进行的总体性讨论。它具有严密的科学性和客观性，反映一个研究课题的价值，同时提出以后的研究方向。为了帮助说明论据、事实，正文中经常使用各种图表。最常用的是附图（Figure）和表（Table），此外还有图解或简图（Diagram）、曲线图或流程图（Graph）、视图（View）、剖面图（Profile）、图案（Pattern）等。在文中提到时，通常的表达法为：如图4所示As(is)showninFig.4,如表1所示As(is)showninTab.1,【结论】在正文最后应有结论(Conclusions)或建议(Suggestions)。(1)关于结论可用如下表达方式：①Thefollowingconclusionscanbedrawnfrom…(由……可得出如下结论)②Itcanbeconcludedthat…(可以得出结论……)③Wemayconcludethat…或Wecometotheconclusionthat…(我们得出如下结论……)④Itisgenerallyaccepted(believed,held,acknowledged)that…(一般认为…)(用于表示肯定的结论)⑤Wethink(consider,believe,feel)that…(我们认为…)(用于表示留有商量余地的结论)(2)关于建议可用如下表达方式。①Itisadvantageousto(do)②Itshouldberealized(emphasized,stressed,noted,pointedout)that…③Itissuggested(proposed,recommended,desirable)that…④Itwouldbebetter(helpful,advisable)that…【结尾部分】1、致谢为了对曾给予支持与帮助或关心的人表示感谢，在论文之后，作者通常对有关人员致以简短的谢词，可用如下方式：Iamthankfultosb.forsthIamgratefultosb.forsthIamdeeplyindebtedtosb.forsthIwouldliketothanksb.forsth.Thanksareduetosb.forsthTheauthorwishestoexpresshissincereappreciationtosb.forsth.Theauthorwishestoacknowledgesb.Theauthorwishestoexpresshisgratitudeforsth.【结尾部分】2、注释注释有两种方式，一种为脚注，即将注释放在出现的当页底部；另一种是将全文注释集中在结尾部分。两种注释位置不同，方法一样。注释内容包括:(1)引文出处。注释方式参见“参考文献”。(2)对引文的说明,如作者的见解、解释。(3)文中所提到的人的身份，依次为职称或职务、单位.如:Professor,DeanofDept….University（教授，……大学……系主任）Chairman,…Company,USA（美国……公司董事长）(4)本论文是否曾发表过。【结尾部分】3、参考文献在论文的最后应将写论文所参考过的主要论著列出，目的是表示对别人成果的尊重或表示本论文的科学根据，同时也便于读者查阅。参考文献的列法如下：如果是书籍，应依次写出作者、书名、出版社名称、出版年代、页数。如:Dailey,C.L.andWood,F.C.,ComputationcurvesforcompressibleFluidProblems,JohnWiley&Sons,Inc.NewYork,1949,pp.37-39如果是论文，应依次写出作者、论文题目、杂志名称、卷次、期次、页数。如：MarrishJosephG.,TurbulenceModelingforComputationalAerodynamics,AIAAJ.Vol-21,No.7,1983,PP.941-955如果是会议的会刊或论文集，则应指出会议举行的时间、地点。如：ProceedingsoftheSixthInternationalConferenceonFractureDec.4-10,1984,NewDelhi,India如果作者不止一人，可列出第一作者，其后加上etal。如：Wagner,R.S.etal,….【准备投稿】1、是否了解了该杂志的投稿程序？2、如果有网上投稿，是否了解其使用方法？3、是否为投稿和以后的交流准备了一个国际通用的邮箱。建议尽量使用,,等邮箱。如果用国内的邮箱可能会给带来意想不到的麻烦。4、杂志是否只接受通讯作者的投稿。5、是否要投稿费（Submissionfee）6、是否准备好了投稿信(Coverletter)，该杂志在投稿信中是否有明确要求（有的有明确要求，必须申明他所列的一些申明，类似中国的无一稿两投，无泄密，无版权纠纷等）【准备投稿】7、稿件的格式（Fileformats）。例如投稿是否只接收PDF格式的文件。8、是否要求自己提供一些审稿人名字，如果要求，你了解了这些审稿人的地址和电子信箱了吗？（因为编辑要你提供他们详细的联系方式）9、最后检查一遍文档是否有错误。投稿开始-找到期刊【投稿】1、在该杂志网站上申请一个用户名（注意保管好用户名和密码）2、登入在线投稿系统按要求填写后，检查是否投稿成功（一般会有显示，有的直接在系统上就显示，并能下载自己上传的稿件打开，有的是系统自动回复一封确认信到你的邮箱）。3、是否记住了自己的文章编号（Themanuscriptidentificationnumber）（以后与编辑联系的时候，就可以在Email主题中写上自己的文章编号）【投稿】4、是否获得了编辑的初步意见（编辑首先要初看一下是否符合该杂志的要求，下列情况编辑可能就不会分发给审稿人了而直接拒绝，比如语言问题，老外看不懂，内容不适合本杂志的征稿范围），一般系统上会显示，如果进入了下一个环节，就要耐心等待。5、在审稿的过程中不能有焦躁情绪，最容易犯的问题就是写信去催。非常不礼貌，一般至少2个月后去信询问较为合适。好的杂志一般都是按照杂志本身的时间规律去办事的，不用你问，到了那个时间就会给消息。【结果及后续事情】1、被拒绝(Reject)，根据反馈意见继续努力。（对文章重新修改后，可以选择其他杂志投稿）2、被告之返修(Revision)。（已经迈出成功的一步）。请一定按照审稿人的意见逐一进行修改，该补充的就补充，不能完成的要解释。回信中一定要注意语气，不要用刻薄的词语，要感谢审稿人的意见，并逐条回答。让编辑一目了然，你做了那些修改。（一般情况是审稿人一审到底，一直到审稿人没有意见）。3、一般要经过几次修改后，才会出现你最喜欢的结果接收（Accept）4、按照要求签署版权转让协议书（Assignmentofcopyright），注意什么地方要打印，什么地方要手写，什么时间必须返回协议书。【结果及后续事情】5、交纳所有费用（一般会给你一个详单，是否需要单行本，需要多少单行本，都很贵，建议不要算了。还会询问支付方式，是用信用卡(creditcard)还是支票(check)6、费用支付。是否有信用卡（到中国银行去问问，我们平时用的多是借记卡），是否了解支票和外汇的使用（老外一般是不希望外汇的。有的只接收本国银行的支票）。7、校正清样。基金号是否写错，作者名字是否写错（大部分杂志是不允许投稿后增减作者的）。有的杂志清样校正后的稿子是不允许再改动的。再改动是要收钱的，而且延误出版。8、一般网上先出文章的电子版。国际期刊编辑对来自中国稿件的看法科技期刊编辑面临的挑战是什么？CoverletterFollow-upCorrespondence（催稿信）RevisedManuscript(稿件退修)与编辑、审稿人的联系Maincontents1.Theimportanceofacoverletter(1)Anoutstandingcoverlettercangivetheeditoranexcellentimpression.Itcanbeusedasaprologue(oranopeningremark).(2)Theco
