To my frustration, I made little progress.It was not until I was in college that I realized the real cause ofmy incorrect pronunciation was not how I set my mouth and tongue, butrather my poor ability to hear the differences between the two sounds.IfoundoutthiswhenIwatchedanEnglis

31、hmovie.Acharacterinthemoviesaid “shoot”, but I heard “short”. Then it suddenly occurred to methat I couldnt eventellthe difference betweenthetwo vowelsby ear.This discovery gave me a new idea about how to overcome my problem.I listened to the pronunciation of “shoot” and “short” on audio (录音的) tapes

32、 carefully until I could hear their difference. Then Ipracticedreadingoutthetwowordsbysomewhatexaggeratingthemovementof my mouth.
