1、SECTION 8reportsSECTION OBJECTIVESKnow the types of reports available in SimManager 2012Be able to create a new report using the report generator tool in report editor. 2、t is intended for storing a single, static file (e.g. a text document or a set of slides) The report is associated with an existing simulation object such as Variant, input Deck, or Result. The report file is created outside of SimManager and attached as a file to the Report object.To create this ty
3、pe of report navigate to the SOD of the object which the report will be associated with, such as Variant, Input Deck, ect, then use CreateNew report.This type of report will not be covered in this class.TYPES OF REPORTS (CONT.)Comparison Report - A comparison report consists of adding comparison sec
4、tions (ex. Image Comparison, Curve Comparison, Movie Comparison) from different projects or simulationsA comparison report is dynamic in nature.They can be created manually or populated automatically from the simulate command.Standard report sections are added from pre-defined templates.SimManager o
5、bjects such as key result values, curves and images can easily by placed in this report.Side-by-side comparisons of data from multiple simulations (seeds) can be included.Data is displayed side-by-side in a two or more column table CREATING A REPORTSimManager allows you to create a Report as part of
6、 an automated simulation procedure.report templates can be defined on a simulate action form. Once the form is submitted and solved then SimManager automatically creates a report form the simulation dataReports can also be created interactively using the Report Generator tool from the SOD of a proje
7、ct. Supports comparison of dataMakes it easy to add additional simulations (results or variants) to the reportAnother way to create a report is using existing reports (Copy Report).Please note that creating reports are typically time consuming. Generally, the first reports created are made to be use
8、d as templates, and these templates serve as the basis for other reports created in the future. The input deck is solved and the output is a result file. SolveFrom the results file the results are organized into key results. That can be observed and compared. Post-ProcessA report can be automaticall

Report GenerationImport Input DeckPROCESS OVERVIEWCREATING A NEW REPORTNEW REPORT If you did not check the report checkbox but still want to create a report after a simulation has been run, use the New Report procedure which allows you to create a new report that includes one or several
10、 simulations. The New Report action is available from the toolbar or Create menu of the project SOD. Standard report sections are added from pre-defined templates. NEW REPORT (CONT.)The New Report dialog box appears as shown. It is a two page form that opens initially to the “Basic Inputs” tab.The P
11、roject field is populated from the context, but can be changed using the “Select” button.Select the Seed Type from the drop-down list. This selection filters the object types that can be added as Seeds in the Report Generator tool.Enter a Report Title. This will appear at the top of the document.Ent
12、er a Report Name. This will be the object name in SimManager.The Description field is optional.NEW REPORT (CONT.)Select the “Advanced Inputs” tab. Here you can enter any additional attributes that are relevant.Use the “Add” buttons for each attribute type to enter a Text, Real, or Number (integer) a
13、ttribute.When all entries are complete, click “Submit” to enter the Report Generator tool.REPORT GENERATOR TOOLUpon submitting the New Report form, the Report Generator tool is opened in the Reports tab.This provides icon tools that can be used to create a reportREPORT GENERATOR TOOL ICONSA strict s
14、equence of using the tool icons is not required, but a suggested procedure is as follows: Use Add Seed tool to define the simulation models that are the subject of the report.Select an input deck of the same type selected as Seed Type. 2. Use Add Section tool to create an outline of your report.Sele
15、ct from a library of section templates to add text or Key Results in the form of tables, images and curvesAs you add individual sections, you can select objects from the SimManager database (for example Key Result images, and curves) that are relevant for that section.3. Use Arrange Sections wizard

Activate the report when finished.REPORT GENERATOR ADD SEEDAdd SeedA Seed is an object (ex. input deck) that is a comparison benchmark for the subject for
17、the report.From the seed dialog, click on “select,” and add as many seeds as you desire. When done, click “Ok” on the SM object selection and “submit” on the Add seed form. REPORT GENERATOR REMOVE SEEDRemove SeedRemove Seed allows you to remove any seeds that you no longer want in the report.Select
18、the seed or seeds to be removed from the left side, and move them to the right side using the right-arrow button.Click “Submit” when all the seeds to be removed are on the right side.If you want to take a seed off the Assigned List, then use the left arrow button to move it back to the Available Lis
19、t. REPORT GENERATOR REPLACE SEEDReplace SeedReplace seed replaces one seed with another.Select the Seed to be replaced from the “Original” drop-down list, in this case “Safety.”For Replacement Seed, click “Select” and use the AOS to locate and select the replacement Seed, such as “Default.” Click “O
20、K.”Click “Submit” to save the change.REPORT GENERATOR - ADD SECTIONAdd Section The Add Section is used to add pre-configured sections to the report.May include such topics as Table of Contents, Image Comparison, Curve Comparison, Value Table Section, etc.Steps to add a sectionPick the Section Type,
21、for this example “Image Comparison” was selected.Once the Type is selected, a brief Description of the Section and its usage is displayed. 22、ata that will go along with the selected section. In this case use the select button to pick the images for comparison. 23、tions will appear in a list on the left side of the Report Generator as they are added. On the right there are “Edit” and “Preview” tabs. . Click on any section name to return to that section. REPORT GENERATOR ADD SECTIONS WIZARDAdd Sections The Add Sections (Wizard) icon allows you to customize rep
24、ort SectionsPick the reference Seed.You can filter the type of data for the “Data Pool” using the filter on the right. Then from the Data Pool list, select the data that you want in the section you will be adding. Use the “Section Types” area, to add sections by selecting the appropriate section typ
25、e and then clicking the green plus sign.REPORT GENERTOR ADD SECTIONS WIZARD (CONT.) Under the table of contents all the sections for the report are listed. you may move sections up and down in the list by using the blue arrow buttons.you may group or ungroup sections using the group/ungroup icons. (
26、just beneath the blue buttons)You can copy a section using the copy icon (looks like 2 papers right below the group icons)You can delete a section from the report using the button that is red circle with a white X.In the “Section Details” area, you may change the title of a section. When finished cl
27、ick the green check.When you have all the sections you want to add, click “submit.” REPORT GENERATOR ARRANGE SECTIONS WIZARD Arrange Sections (Wizard)The Arrange Sections (Wizard) Lets you arrange the sections to your preferenceClick on the Section to move, and then use the blue buttons on the right
28、 to move the section up or down.The second set of buttons allows you to group and ungroup sections.The red button with a white X, will remove any highlighted sections. REPORT GENERATOR - PREVIEWPreviewThe preview icon creates a *.PDF or *.PPT preview of the report. This lets you review the content a
29、nd format prior to activating.REPORT GENERATOR - ACTIVATEActivate The activate icon saves the report object and creates a html and pdf preview file attached to the reportIt is used to publish the report and make it available to other usersThis should be the last task, after all the sections have bee
30、n defined.After publishing you will be shown the SOD of the new Comparison report object.AUTO REPORTACTIONS THAT WILL AUTO-GENERATE REPORTA report can be automatically generated from any action that will simulate. These include:Simulate Import and simulateAssemble and simulateSimulation generatorSIM
31、ULATE ACTIONFor this example we will look at the Simulate action, the procedure is similar for the other types of simulating. From the “neon_xx” Safety Input Deck SOD, use the simulate icon to start the simulate action.BASIC,SOLVE, AND POST-PROCESS INPUTS TABThe Basic Inputs tab is filled out as bef
32、ore, except this time check all three boxes Solve, Post, and Report.The Solver and Post-Process inputs tabs are completed the same as discussed in the previous lectures. REPORT GENERATION TABIn the Report Generation tab, you can set up reports to be generated by the procedureSelect the “Attach” butt
33、on to add a report.ADD REPORT FORMIn the Add Report window:Report: Use the “Select” button to pick an existing Report in the SimManager database. Note: this is required, so there must be at least one report in the system to use as a template. Edit/Copy: Edit Existing - the selected report may be edi
34、ted and saved without creating a new report object. Create New - used if you wish to edit the selected Report and save it as a new ReportSeed Logic: Add existing the newly generated report content is added to the content of the selected report. Replace Existing the newly generated report content rep
35、laces the content of the selected report.ADD REPORT FORM (CONT.)In the Add Report window (cont.):Reference seeds logic All variants all seeds inside the existing report.All variants/same simulation all seeds inside the existing report with the same SimulationDef.Parent variants/same simulation all s
36、eeds inside the “derived from variant” with the same simulation Def. Reference Seeds table - the Reference table is populated with seeds that are relevant to the report, and that have comparable key results that will be included in the report for comparison. Click select to add more reference seeds
37、to the table. An AOS appears from which to select the reference seed objects. From the Simulate dialog box click “submit” and when the process is done the report will be created. ADDING AN AUTO-REPORT TO A SIMULATION DEFAny Simulation Definition can also auto-generate a report at the end of a simula
38、tion.To do this, add the report (with the correct seed replace logic) to the simulation def.Now the process is similar to that described for the simulate command. Alert when using “Edit”: Will result in constant adding of new simulation to an existing report! Can lead to failure of the process if us
39、er doesnt have write-privileges to the referenced report.COPY REPORTPURPOSE OF COPY REPORTCopy Report has two purposesTo create a Master Report Template from the existing report. Creates a new report from the existing report with all the seeds removed.To copy report with add/remove seeds.TEMPLATES A
40、ND REAL REPORTSSimManager doesnt distinguish between report templates and real reports (those containing data).This allows you to include in the “template” constant data, to which the data inserted in the report is automatically compared to. This can be:Target dataPhysical Test dataBaseline Simulati
41、on dataThis is also the reason for this more complicated replace-logic, which can pretty much address all the typical use cases of a customer.LAUNCHING COPY REPORTCopy Report can be launched from the Comparison Report object SOD/MOD toolbar.Select the appropriate report to copy.Use Edit “Copy report
42、”LAUNCHING COPY REPORT (CONT.)Another way to launch “copy report” is from the SOD of the report that you want to copy. From the toolbar of the appropriate report SOD use Edit ”Copy Report.”COPY REPORT On the Copy Report form give the new report a unique Report Name and Report Title.To create a master report, click on the “clear” button of
