Guide students to analyze and translate the sentences and get the definitions of attributive clauses1) 定语从句:修饰某一名词或代词的从句叫定语从句。定语从句一
5、般紧跟在它所修饰的先 行词之后。2) .先行词:被定语从句修饰的词叫先行词。3) .关系词:引导定语从句的词叫关系词。3. 6、eview how to choose the relative words.定语从句关系词的选择1) .确定先行词和定语从句。2) .把先行词带入定语从句,判断它在定语从句中所作的成分。3) .看先行词指代什么。指人 who/that指人 who /whom/that/ 省略作主语作宾语指物 that/which指物which/that/省略某人的人-whom作定语/ whose= the + n. + of某物的物-which指时间-whe n人-whom作状语指地点-where介词+关系代词物-which指原因-why2. 8、n more about the attributive clauses and at the same time, do related exercises.1. 只用that,不用which的情况:1) .领先行词有序数词或形容词最高级修饰时;2) .领先行词前有the only, the very, the last等词修饰时;3) .领先行词为 anything, nothing, something, everything, all, little, much 等 不定代词时;4) .领先行词前有 all, every, no, some, any, little, much, fe
9、w 等词修饰时;5) .先行词既有人又有物时。2. 先行词是the same, such,或被他们所修饰,通常用关系代词as.3. 当those作为先行词指人时,通常只能用 who引导.1) .The white flower is the only oneI really like.2) . 11、定语从句形式上不用逗号与主句隔开。意义上是先行词不可缺少的 定语,如删除,主句那么失去意义或意思表达不完整。通常译成先行词的定语“ 的B非限制性定语从句只是对先行词的补充说明,如删除,主句仍能表达完整的意思。通常译成主句的并列句。注意区分以下句子的不同含义:1) . Her brother who is now a soldier always encourages her to go to college. 她那当兵的哥哥总是鼓励她上大学.(意含:她还有其他哥哥。)2) . Her brother, who is now a soldier, always encourages her to
12、 go to college.她哥哥是当兵的,他总是鼓励她上大学。(意含:她只有一个哥哥。)6. 关系代词as和which引导的定语从句as和which引导非限制性定语从句时,其用法有相同之处,也有不同之处。 具体情况是:1) . as和which都可以在定语从句中做主语或宾语,代替前面整个句子。2) . as引导的非限制性定语从句可以放在主句之前、主句之后,或者主句中间。which引导的非限制性定语从句只可放在主句之后。另外,as常常有“正如、正像的含义。1).He is hon est,we can see.2). _ is known to all, China is a developing country.3) .
