We should wash our hands before touching a door handleBI experienced more than I was able to handle as a boy. My father was an alcoholic, which resulted in an absolute mess in our family including physical abuse in my parents marriage. I was five years old when my parents divorced. My mother worked day and night to support the family. This left me with a lot of time by myself. I never received any encouragement to try out for sports or after-school activities. Because of this, I never really thought that I could do it. I thought that without a parents company, support and encouragement it was hard for a teen to set up structure for themselves. Had I experienced the love from both of my parents, I would have been able to learn how to make real friends and how to build confidence, teamwork and good decision-making skills. But that was not my reality. Reality was that I fell in with the wrong crowd. I made some bad friends. As I met more people who partied, took drugs and alcohol, I began to follow them. Before I knew it, all I cared about was how I was going to get high.My mom was angry and let me know how much I was letting her down but I didnt know how to stop and I couldnt picture my life without the drugs. I protected my using drugs at any cost. I was angry at her because it seemed as if I was not important to her. The one thing about my mom was that she did not give up. I not only needed treatment to fight my addiction, but needed help to remove what I had been carrying around for years. Professionals were able to help us heal together. They were able to help my mom learn how to push me when I needed drugs, and communicate with an angry teenager. We didnt take the route that most mothers and sons take in life, but we are proof that addiction doesnt have to tear a family apart forever. 24. What can be learned about the authors parents?A. His mother encouraged him to do sports. B. His mother didnt know how to raise him alone.C. His father drank a lot for failure in his business.D. His father was to blame for his parents divorce.25. How was the author affected by his parents divorce?A. He failed to make any friends. B. He felt hopeless about his future.C. He was discouraged to try any sport. D. He couldnt get any support from others.26. What can we infer from Paragraph 3?A. He succeeded in getting rid of drugs. B. He showed trust in the professionals.C. He often communicated with his mother. D. He didnt care about letting her mother down.27. What does the text mainly talk about?A. Drugs for a teens growth. B. The importance of love for a teen.C. A trip inside the mind of an addicted teen.D. The influence of parents divorce on a teen. CSharing BeautyIt was in October. I was aimlessly wandering down the street, heading into a most gloriously beautiful sunset. I had an urge to speak to someone on the street to share that beauty, but it seemed everyone was in a hurry. I took the next-best action. Quickly I ducked into a department store and asked the lady behind the counter if she could come outside for just a minute. She looked at me as though I were from some other planet. She hesitated, and then seemingly against her better judgment, she moved toward the door. When she got outside I said to her, “Just look at that sunset! Nobody out here was looking at it and I just had to share it with someone.” For a few seconds we just looked. Then I said, “God is in his heaven and all is right with the world.” I thanked her for coming out to see it; she went back inside and I left. It felt good to share the beauty. Four years later my situation changed greatly. I came to the end of a twenty-year marriage. I was alone and on my own for the first time in my life. I lived in a trailer park which, at the time, I considered a real come-down, and I had to do my wash in the community laundry room. One day, while my clothes were going around, I picked up a magazine and read an article about a woman who had been in similar circumstances. She had come to the end of a marriage, moved to a strange community, and the only job she could find was one she disliked: clothing sales in a department store. Then something that happened to her changed everything. She said a woman came into her department store and asked her to step outside to look at a sunset. The stranger had said, “God is in his heaven and all is right with the world,” and she had realized the truth in that statement. From that moment on, she turned her life around. 28.The author asked the woman to go outside to _.A. admire the sunsetB. cheer her upC. offer some helpD. have a chat29.Four years later, the author _.A. found her dream jobB. put an end to her marriageC. worked in a laundry roomD. lived in the same community30.After reading the article in the magazine, the author was probably_.A. disappointedB. puzzledC. inspiredD. overjoyedDWhat is language for? Some people seem to think its for practising grammar rules and learning lists of wordsthe longer the lists, the better. Thats wrong. Language is for the exchange(交流)of ideas and information. Its meaningless knowing all about a language if you cant use it freely. Many students I have met know hundreds of grammar rules, but they cant speak correctly or fluently(流利地). They are afraid of making mistakes. One shouldnt be afraid of making mistakes when speaking a foreign language. Native speakers make mistakes and break rules, too. Bernard Shaw once wrote, Foreigners often speak English too correctly. But the mistakes that native speakers make are different from those that Chinese students make. Theyre English mistakes in the English language. And if enough native speakers break a rule, it is no longer a rule. What used to be wrong becomes right. People not only make history, they make language. But a people can only make its own language. It cant make another peoples language. So Chinese students of English should pay attention to grammar, but they shouldnt overdo(做过头)it. They should put communication(交际)first.31Language is used to _.A. express oneselfB. practice grammar rules C. talk with foreigners only D. learn lists of words32Generally, when an American or an Englishman speaks English, he _.A. never makes mistakes B. often makes mistakesC. cant avoid making mistakes D. always makes mistakes33Foreigners often speak English too correctly. This sentence means that _.A. foreigners speak correct English B. foreigners speak incorrect EnglishC. foreigners speak English according to the grammar rulesD. foreigners never make mistakes when they speak English34If too many native speakers break a rule, _.A. what they use will become right B. they are against the lawC. they should say sorry to others D. they will become heroes第三部分 英语知识运用(共两节,满分45分)第一节 完形填空(共20小题;每小题1.5分,满分30分)阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D),选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。There was a king who loved art very much.
