Using Games in Primary English TeachingAbstract: The new English curriculum standard puts forward that the primary English teaching should aim to cultivate students interest. So the ideal way of primary English teaching is a game, a game can not only increase the study of interest of the children, but it also can enhance effectiveness of the course. Games teaching requires teachers to arrange class time reasonably and the teachers should adopt some simple、easily-remembered and class-related games to develop students English learning interest. Key words: Primary English course available; game teaching; applicationI、IntroductionIn recent years, English becomes more and more popular in china and is accepted by most people. Nowadays, we have begun to let our pupils learn English as a very crucial task, In primary school English teaching, we often emphasize the interest teaching which helps students accept knowledge quickly and well, as for how to make the class be full of interesting, as received by most persons ,it should be attributed to the games. So when the English teacher who imparts the knowledge to students should plays games as much as possible.II、The arrangement of time about a course in primary school Usually ,a course is arranged about forty minutes in primary school, in the beginning of class, the teacher often give within five minutes to warm up and review the knowledge before having been learned .in a class , students have to be passed on some new knowledge、skills and experience. According to the characteristic of childrens attention, its just about 15 minutes. In studying, when students learn textbook knowledge, they always make a choice to ignore what the teacher talk about whether important or not and think its boring and not useful. so in that situation, the teachers have to take some measures to attract the attention of children ,a class should be given one game more or less about five minutes, the game doesnt have to be gettogether and can be dispersed in the forty minutes of instruction. Thus, the children not only learn new knowledge, and but they also feel happy. ,The importance of game in a course A successful English course is inseparable from the active participation of students, therefore, how to attract the attention of children and stimulate them to take part in class has become an urgent task. In order to realize the effective class, the teacher should give enough practice after taking new content of a course, so how to students remember the content as quickly as possible has become more and more important. Next, I will list some examples to support my views on the importance of the games in a class, they are as follows.1、the characteristics of games (1) The game is the most suitable for the age characteristics of young children, because in a game, the children can develop their initiative, enthusiasm and creativity.(2) The game possesses interest and variety, the interest is the best teacher and belongs to one aspect of the motivation which is to inspire people to engage in activities power. 2、the function of games (1) As far as most people are concerned, the game can relax children and cultivate their intelligence.(2)The game can promote the communication of people and improve the interpersonal relationship. (3)The game can improve the efficiency of the class and let children easily remember what they have learned in class. As we have known, a lot of advantages the game has, so we can ignore when the teacher take an English lesson, the teacher can put the game into their teaching. (4)A game can help people overcome the forgetting and make the knowledge reserve in you brains for a longer time .IV、the application of game in a course and teacher guides That a game is good or bad focuses on how many students can came into the class and how much knowledge students have accepted, a good game is inseparable the teachers guide and the cooperation between children and teachers. The teacher should well plan time, place, process, tools and actors and so on before starting a game, the most important is to let children understand how to play the game and what they will learn through the game. The game must be closed-relative to the content of the class ,there is no doubt that a good game can make great progress, so playing good game plays an important role in our daily teaching. For example, when I play a cards and words game in my lesson, first, I will prepare some articles, like some cards with some words like apples ,pears, bananas and oranges and a pencil in advance, thinking who fits to play the game and which place the game fits. The second, I will tell them we will play a game after we finish the content, doing like this can make students concentrate on learning new content and stimulate the children to catch more knowledge. The third, on the one hand, we will play the game to consolidate the knowledge we learned just now to deepen the impression, on the other hands, students can relax themselves after nervous studying. V、conclusion English is our second language and plays an important role in our daily life, we can use it to communicate with foreigner, when we go to abroad, we can use it to make a living, so we have to learn English well and make full use of it. In 2008 Olympic Games, many foreigners come to Beijing of china, many Chinese try their best to study English and know about western culture, through Chinese hard working, our country successfully held the game.
