8A Unit 2 School LifeComic strip and welcome to the unit 主备人:王雅香Step Preparation workStep Lead-in T: Do you like our school? What do you like? How many subjects do you learn? Can you tell me some names of them?S: Chinese, Math, English, PE, Geography, etc. (Encourage the Ss to say more about it.)T: Good. Is there another word for Math?S: Yes. Maths.T: Great. Maths is Math. Maths is British English. While Math is American English (write on Bb) Step Pre-task (Welcome to the unit)Show the flags of the UK and the USA. Tell them that people speak English in both Britain and the USA , but sometimes they use different words which mean the same thing. T: I know many boys like playing football.Do you know what it says in American English?S: Soccer.(Write on Bb) Do you know the same use of other words? This is life in a Chinese school.Step Three presentation . Students read the first passage after the tape and do true or false questions:(1). In a mixed school, boys and girls have lessons together. T(2). Johns favourite subject is English. F(3). John knew how to cook healthy and tasty meals before coming to this school. F(4). Students at Johns school can read magazines during Reading Week. T(5). Students must not talk in class during Reading Week. F(6). They think Reading Week is too short because they want to read more books. T. Teacher asks students to sum up Johns school life. Read the second passage and answer questions(1). How does Nancy go to school? What does she think of it?Her brother drives her to school. She thinks it is great because it takes less time than taking the bus.(2). What do the students do in the Buddy Club? Older students talk to new students about school life.(3). Why does Nancy say Julie is her hero? She helps her learn all about her new school. She helps her with her homework and listens to her problems. Teacher asks students to sum up Nancys school life.Step Four DiscussionStudents discuss with each other: Which kind of school life do you like best? (Or one can say a sentence including an adj)Step 5. Sum upWe learn names of school subjects and opposites of adjectives .Teacher can say: Today, We learn some school subjects, Art, Geography and so on .(encourage the Ss to say more). And some students think Art is interesting, but the others think its boring. Some students think Geography is important but the others think its . (encourage the Ss to continue). Amy has fewer flowers than Millie.Ask Ss to talk about the second picture in the same way.(2)Use the same way to present lessthan.Work out the rule: We use morethan and fewerthan to talk about countable nouns. We use morethan and lessthan to talk about uncountable nouns.Step IV. Presentation1. The use of the most/fewest/least. T: Look at the pictures. Peter has more beef than Leo. Leo has more beef than Jack. That is to say: Who has the most beef?Ss: ( Peter has the most beef of all.) T: Who has the least beef? Ss: (Jack has the least beef of all.)T: Nancy has more pears than Millie. Millie has more pears than Amy.That is to say: Nancy has the most pears of all. Amy has the fewest pears of all. 2. Ss try to work out the rules: We use the most/fewest to talk about countable nouns.We use the most/least to talk about uncountable nouns. 3.
