RecollectionsofJoanofArc(1896),asentimentalbiography.Twain'sotherlaterwritings

includeshortstories,thebestknownofwhichare"TheManThatCorruptedHadleyburg*'

(1899)and"TheWarPrayer"(1905);philosophical,social,andpoliticalessays;the

manuscriptof"TheMysteriousStranger,"anuncompletedpiecethatwaspublished

inahumorousandcolloquial,yetpoetic,language.hissuccessincreatingthisplainhut
