PAGEPAGE1跟着名师学写作(含逐句点评解析)虽然我有太多的话题想说,但是每周能抽时间写成的只有两三篇。本期的话题是基于始终以来有人问我如何学习,却迟迟不愿付出行动。我想说的是,方法其实不重要,重要的是行动。学问的积累无非就是多读,多练,无它。所谓大道至简。昨天的时间略微足够一点,所以,这篇我加上了批注。自己给自己写的文章加评注和分析,也不是多见的吧,好像有点高调了。不管怎么说,但愿对您有点用。ActionandMeaningHowdoImakemystudyplan?Whatisthepointofmydecisioniftheresultseemscarvedinstone?...评析:开头用疑问句用来设置悬念,也是点名主旨。这也是争论文的一种行文常规手段。What’sthepointofdoing…,用来询问做某事的意义何在。Becarvedinstone,英文说明:Ifasuggestion,plan,rule,etc.iscarvedinstone,itcannotbechanged。一般否定句更常用,用来表明并非一成不变。Iwasaskedthesequestionsrecentlybyoneofmystudents.Hecouldrecitemanyso-calledgoldenrulesinEnglishlearningbutfearedhiseffortwouldbeinvainifhemadeaninsensibledecisionortheactionwouldgethimnowherebecausenopay-offwasinsighttemporarily.Hetoldmethathefeltoverwhelmedanddemotivated,unabletomakeevensmalldecisions.评析:详细说明上段疑问句产生的背景。这位同学患得患失,既想做出安排,又担忧安排没有意义,从而始终不敢去行动,或者浅尝辄止。Goldenrule,英文说明:averyimportantprinciple,wayofbehavingetcthatshouldberemembered。当然,这里也可以用recipe,secret等词。invain徒劳的;getsbnowhere让某人一无所获;pay-off回报,比benefit更简单理解;overwhelmed必知所措的;demotivated消极的,失去动力的。这两个词连用,用来突出茫然的状态,当然也可以选用ataloss,我原来运用havenottheslightestideaof…,但是为了简洁,就弃用了。Forafewsecondsitstumpedme,mainlybecauseI’veneverviewedEnglishlearningasacollectionforahamoments.It’sacontinuum,alifelongawakeningtothediversityofforeigncultures.Butitisnotthecasewiththepoorboy.Hispatiencewasalmostexhuasted.Themoretimespentinvalidatinghisideasorplans,themoredoubtsarousedaboutthemeaning.评析:此段承接上段,从我对英语学习的感受谈到这个学生的逆境的详细状况,为下段深化剖析缘由做伏笔。stump:tobeunabletoansweraquestionorsolveaproblembecauseitistoodifficult。我原来用corner,但stump这个词是特地针对无法回答别人的问题,更精确。Ahamoments顿悟时刻;alifelongawakeningto...对……的终身的领悟(这个词块是我借用的,表示对学问的如饥似渴地接收);itisnotthecasewith...某人状况并非如此;validate证明……的有效。Therootoftheproblemsliesintheindecisioncausedbytoomanychoices.Themorechoiceswe’regiven,thelessablewearetomakeadecision.Ourindecisioninturnpushesustojustifythenextmove--tofigureoutwherethemeaningisdirected.Weworryaboutdoingthewrongthingandobsessoverinconsequentialdetails.Andsadly,weendupsquanderingthemostimportantmomentsofourlives.JustasYangJiang,awell-knownwriter,putinherresponsetoayoungbewilderedreader,allhisproblemscanbesummrizedasthinkingtoomuchandreadingtoolittle.Similarly,theboy’sproblemislackofstrongandswiftaction,whichisthesteppingstonetoamoreaware,thoughtfulexistence.Actually,thereisnoknownformulatosuccess.Themostefficientwayisalwaysthesimplestone.评析:本段剖析了迟疑不决的两个主要缘由:选择太多导致无所适从;患得患失导致在次要细微环节上奢侈时间。最终得出结论:大道至简。获得的学问的途径并不重要,关键是快速行动起来。therootof...问题的根源;indecision迟疑不决;justify证明……是合理的,这个词是争论文中常用词,可以替换thereasonfor;squander奢侈;bewildered困惑的;strongandswiftaction坚决和快速的行动,原来我用的是actionwithstrongbeliefandfastspeed,这样修改后,就简洁有力了,并且strong和swift形成头韵的修辞效果;steppingstone垫脚石,这里是比方;formula途径,事实上这个词和recipe等是同义的。Lifeisajourney,notabusinessplan.Wherewe’regoingdoesn’tmatterasmuchaswethinkitdoes.Moreoftenthannot,wejustneedtomoveinadirectionwithoutanyregretinsteadofhesitatingaboutgainsorloss.Aswebuildmomentum,wecanlearntosteer.Thisisthewaylifeworks.Justaswithridingabike,wecansteermoreeasilythefasterwe'regoing.Andconversely,ifwe'renotmovingandwetrytosteer,we'llprobablyfalldown.Isn'titinterestingthatfailureiswhathappensnotwhenwemovetooquickly,buttooslowly?Mostofusaretryingcarefullytoplanthefuture.However,theoppositeistrue.Theimpedimenttobeginningourlifeisthebeliefthatwecancontrolourfuture.Whatwecandoisparticipateinit.评析:此段是上一段段意的延长,说明行动的重要性:行动而非安排导致胜利,因为将来不行预料,且行且珍惜,并且通过比方来诠释。(本段的比方也是借用名家手笔下的文字,读者可以积累)Aswebuildmomentum,wecanlearntosteer.一旦势头有了,你就能学着操控全局。momentum动力,势头;steer指导,操纵,下面的steer意为“驾驶,操纵方向”;conversely相反地;theoppositeistrue事实恰好相反,和theotherwayaround同义;impediment障碍。Meaningcanonlybefoundonthewaytothedestinationratherthaninmakingtheplan.Onthejourney,wecannotonlyfindmoreworthyofpursuit,butalsoexperienceasenseoffulfillmentinsolvingnewproblems.Takewritingforexample.Manyofusfocusonreadingandcollectingwritingmaterials,butseldomfeelitistheripetimeforpractice.Infact,onlyintheprocessofwritingcanwelearntoorganizeourideasandputwhatwehavepreparedtogooduse.Meanwhile,wecanseeknewinsightintothetopicandinstillinspirationinit.评析:此段从另一个角度说明行动行动大于意义,意义在行动中产生。theripetimefor...的合适时机;seekinsight寻求新的见解;instillinspiration注入灵感。However,wehavetobearinmindthatactionalonecannotwork.Actionshouldbemarriedwithperseverance.Itwilltaketimetoreapthebenefitofyourlong-timeaction.Effortsmadeandopportunitiesmaximized,youwillseethepointineachmomentofyourlife.Let'slearntolaborandtowaitwithaheartforanyfate.评析:此段为总结,也是对第一段的问题作出进一步回答。行动应当和恒心结合起来。最终一句我引用了朗费罗的诗句,稍加改编。我时常告知自己:但行好事,莫问前程;不忘初心,方得始终。marry...with...相当于combine...with...;reapthebenefitof收获;effortsmadeandopportunitiesmxaimized是独立主格结构,表示条件。maximize最大程度利用。最终一句改编自美国诗人Longfellow的诗句:Stillachieving,stillpursuing/Learntolaborandtowait.不断进取,不断追求/擅长劳动,擅长等待。DisciplinewithouttrustItisnotuncommonthathighschoolstudentsareconfinedtotheirschoolslikecagedbirds.Ironically,thesamehasbeentrueoftheirteachers.Someheadmasters,orrather,theBigBrother,liketokeepalltheteachersinthepalmoftheirhandsandsupervisetheiractionanytimeandanywhere.Itcanboildowntodiscipline,awordoneveryone's
