Tousersofthiscamera

•Donotuseorstorethisdeviceinthevicinityofequipmentthatgeneratesstrong

electromagneticradiationormagneticfields.Strongstaticchargesorthemagnetic

fieldsproducedbyequipmentsuchasradiotransmitterscouldinterferewiththe

monitor,damagethestoreddata,oraffecttheproduct’sinternalcircuitryandcause

cameramisoperation.

•Theliquidcrystalpanelusedforthemonitorismanufacturedusingextremelyhigh

precisiontechnology.Althoughtheleveloffunctioningpixelsis99.99%orbetter,you

shouldbeawarethat0.01%orfewerofthepixelsmaynotilluminateormayilluminate

whentheyshouldnot.However,thishasnoeffectontherecordedimage.

•Thereisapossibilitythattheillustrationsandthedisplayscreenofthemonitorinthis

•Donotdisassembleormodifythecamera.Highvoltageareasarepresentinsidethe

burnswhenholdingsuchportionsforlongperiods.

•Shouldthemonitorbedamaged,becarefulofglassfragments.Also,becarefulnot

toallowtheliquidcrystaltogetonyourskinorinyoureyesormouth.

•Dependingonyourindividualfactorsorphysicalcondition,theuseofthecameramay

causeitching,rashesorblisters.Incaseofanyabnormality,stopusingthecamera

andgetmedicalattentionimmediately.

AbouttheBatteryChargerandACAdapter

Warning

•AlwaysusethebatterychargerandACadapterexclusivelydevelopedforthis

product,withthespecifiedpowerandvoltage.UsingabatterychargerorACadapter

notexclusivetothisproduct,orusingtheexclusivebatterychargerorACadapterwith

anunspecifiedpowerorvoltagecancauseafire,electricshock,orcamera

breakdown.Thespecifiedvoltageis100-240VAC.

•Donotdisassembleormodifytheproduct.Thiscancauseafireorelectricalshock.

•Ifthegenerationofsmokeorstrangeodorfromtheproductorotherabnormality

occurs,immediatelydiscontinueusingandconsultaPENTAXServiceCenter.

Continuingtousetheproductcancauseafireorelectricalshock.

•Ifwatershouldhappentogetinsidetheproduct,consultaPENTAXServiceCenter.

•Wipeoffthepowerplugifitshouldbecomecoveredwithdust.Accumulateddustmay

causeafire.

•Toreducetheriskofhazards,useonlyCSA/ULcertifiedpowersupplycordset,cord

isTypeSPT-2orheavier,minimumNO.18AWGcopper,oneendwithamolded-on

maleattachmentplugcap(withaspecifiedNEMAconfiguration),andtheotheris

•Ifanyleakagefromthebatteryshouldcomeincontactwithyoureyes,donotrub

them.Flushyoureyeswithcleanwaterandgetmedicalattentionimmediately.

•Onlyusethespecifiedbatterywiththiscamera.Useofotherbatteriesmaycausean

explosionorfire.

•Donotdisassemblethebattery.Disassemblingthebatterymaycauseanexplosion

orleakage.

•Removethebatteryfromthecameraimmediatelyifitbecomeshotorbeginsto

smoke.Becarefulnottoburnyourselfduringremoval.

•Keepwires,hairpins,andothermetalobjectsawayfromthe+and-contactsofthe

battery.

•Donotshortthebatteryordisposeofthebatteryinfire.Thiscancauseanexplosion

orfire.

•Ifanyleakagefromthebatteryshouldcomeincontactwithskinorclothes,itmay

causeirritationtotheskin.Washtheaffectedareasthoroughlywithwater.

1.Iftheproductfallsorisoperatedaccidentallyitmaycauseseriouspersonalinjuries.

2.Wrappingthestraparoundaneckmaycausesuffocation.

3.ToavoidtheriskofasmallaccessorysuchasthebatteryorSDMemoryCards

frombeingswallowedbymistake,keepthemoutofthereachofsmallchildren.

Seekmedicalattentionimmediatelyifanaccessoryisaccidentallyswallowed.

CaretobeTakenDuringHandling

BeforeUsingYourCamera

•Whentraveling,taketheWorldwideServiceNetworklistingthatisincludedinthe

package.Thiswillbeusefulifyouexperienceproblemsabroad.

•Whenthecamerahasnotbeenusedforalongtime,confirmthatitisstillworking

properly,particularlypriortotakingimportantpictures(suchasataweddingorwhen

traveling).Contentsoftherecordingcannotbeguaranteedifrecording,playbackor

transferringyourdatatoacomputer,etc.isnotpossibleduetoamalfunctionofyour

cameraorrecordingmedia(SDMemoryCard),etc.

AbouttheBatteryandCharger

•Storingthebatteryfullychargedmaydecreasethebatteryperformance.Avoidstoring

inhightemperatures.

•Ifthebatteryisleftinsertedandthecameraisnotusedforalongtime,thebatterywill

over-dischargeandshortenthebattery’slife.

•Chargingthebatteryadaybeforeuseoronthedayofuseisrecommended.

•TheACplugcordprovidedwiththiscameraisdevelopedexclusivelyforthebattery

chargerD-BC68P.Donotuseitwithotherdevices.

PrecautionsonCarryingandUsingYourCamera

•Donotsubjectthecameratohightemperaturesorhighhumidity.Donotleavethe

camerainavehicle,asthetemperaturecangetveryhigh.

•Donotsubjectthecameratostrongvibrations,shocks,orpressure.Useacushionto

protectthecamerafromvibrationsofmotorcycles,automobiles,orships.

•Thetemperaturerangeforcamerauseis0°Cto40°C(32°Fto104°F).

•Themonitormayappearblackathightemperatures,butwillreturntonormalat

normaltemperatures.

•Themonitormayrespondmoreslowlyatlowtemperatures.Thisisduetoliquid

crystalproperties,andisnotamalfunction.

•Suddentemperaturechangeswillcausecondensationontheinsideandoutsideof

thecamera.Placethecamerainyourbagoraplasticbag,andremovethecamera

aftertemperatureofthecameraandsurroundingsareequalized.

•Avoidcontactwithgarbage,mud,sand,dust,water,toxicgases,orsalt.Thesecould

causethecameratobreakdown.Wipethecameratodryoffanyrainorwaterdrops.

•Pleasedonotpressforcefullyonthemonitor.Thiscouldcauseittobreakor

malfunction.

•Becarefulnottoovertightenthescrewinthetripodsocketwhenusingatripod.

CleaningYourCamera

•Donotcleantheproductwithorganicsolventssuchasthinner,alcohol,orbenzine.

•Usealensbrushtoremovedustaccumulatedonthelens.Neveruseasprayblower

forcleaningasitmaydamagethelens.

•PleasecontactaPENTAXServiceCenterforprofessionalcleaningoftheCMOS

sensor.(Thiswillinvolveafee.)

StoringYourCamera

•Donotstorethecamerawithpreservativesorchemicals.Storageinhigh

temperaturesandhighhumiditycancausemoldtogrowonthecamera.Removethe

camerafromitscaseandstoreitinadryandwell-ventilatedplace.

•Avoidusingorstoringthecamerawhereitmaybeexposedtostaticelectricityor

electricalinterference.

•Avoidusingorstoringthecameraindirectsunlightorinlocationswhereitmaybe

exposedtorapidchangesintemperatureortocondensation.

•Periodicinspectionsarerecommendedeveryonetotwoyearstomaintainhigh

performance.

OtherPrecautions

•TheSDMemoryCardisequippedwithawrite-

protectswitch.SettingtheswitchtoLOCK

preventsnewdatafrombeingrecordedonthe

card,thestoreddatafrombeingdeleted,andthe

cardfrombeingformattedbythecameraorWrite-protect

computer.switch

•TheSDMemoryCardmaybehotwhenremoving

thecardimmediatelyafterusingthecamera.

•DonotremovetheSDMemoryCardorturnoffthepowerwhilethecardisbeing

accessed.Thismaycausethedatatobelostorthecardtobedamaged.

•DonotbendtheSDMemoryCardorsubjectittoviolentimpact.Keepitawayfrom

waterandstoreawayfromhightemperatures.

•DonotremovetheSDMemoryCardwhileformatting.Thecardmaybedamagedand

becomeunusable.

•DataontheSDMemoryCardmaybedeletedinthefollowingcircumstances.Wedo

notacceptanyliabilityfordatathatisdeletedif

1.theSDMemoryCardismishandledbytheuser.

2.theSDMemoryCardisexposedtostaticelectricityorelectricalinterference.

3.theSDMemoryCardhasnotbeenusedforalongtime.

4.theSDMemoryCardorthebatteryisremovedwhilethecardisbeingaccessed.

•IftheSDMemoryCardisnotusedforalongtime,thedataonthecardmaybecome

unreadable.Besuretoregularlymakeabackupofimportantdataonacomputer.

•FormatnewSDMemoryCards.AlsoformatSDMemoryCardsusedwithother

cameras.

•PleasenotethatdeletingdatastoredonanSDMemoryCard,orformattinganSD

MemoryCarddoesnotcompletelyerasetheoriginaldata.Deletedfilescan

sometimesberecoveredusingcommerciallyavailablesoftware.Ifyouaregoingto

discard,giveawayorsellyourSDMemoryCard,youshouldensurethatthedataon

thecardiscompletelydeletedorthecarditselfisdestroyedifitcontainsanypersonal

orsensitiveinformation.

•ThedataonyourSDMemoryCardshouldbemanagedatyourownrisk.
