themtorealizewhat'swrongwiththisworld,thingscouldchange.
Thistypeofviewoftheworld-andlikeIsaid,Ithinkit'stheprevailingview
stemsfromanidealthatmanypeoplehaveintheirheadsofwhattheworld
shouldbelike.Theymightnotrealizetheyhavethatideal,butit'sthere.And
theworldwillneverreachthisPlatonicideal,becauseit'sjustthisimageof
perfectionthatdoesnotmatchreality.Realityandthisidealareincompatible.
SoWhat'sWrongwithThat?
Nothing'swrongwiththat,actually.That'showmostpeopleare,andIdon't

interestingdiscussion,though,becauseIthinkthisdiscrepancybetweenwhat
peoplethinktheworldshouldbeandwhattheworldreallyiscancause
unhappiness.
Ifyouwanttheworldtobecompletelyvegetarianandkindtoanimals,andit
isn'tandwon'tbeintheforeseeablefuture,youwillmostlikelybeunhappy.
Ifyouwanttheworldtogobacktohowitwasduringyourchildhood,or
duringyourparents'generation,anditisn'tlikelytodoso,you'renotgoingto
behappy.
Thesameistrueofanyofourideals.It'sverypossiblethattherealityofthe
peopleinyourlifedon'tmeettheseideals.Thatmightcauseyoutobe
unhappywiththem.
Whenrealitydoesn'tmeetideals-anditrarelydoes-webecomeunhappy.

Whatwouldbetheresultofthisalternativeworld-view?Well,Ithinkyou'd
behappier,ifonlybecauseyoudidn'tseetheworldasafundamentallyflawed
orevilplace,andbegantoseethegoodintheworld.This,however,isopen
toindividualinterpretation,andyourownexperienceislikelytobedifferent
thanmine.
Doesthismeanthatweshouldgiveupontryingtomakepositivechangesin
