怎样做填写语法形式题

填写语法形式题要求考生将所给的动词、形容词或副词变换成适当的形式，填入空格。目的是检查考生掌握和运用那些词的语法变

化的能力，其中以动词为主。

动词的形式有两种：谓语动词和非调语动词。谓语动词有时态、语态、语气（以虚拟语气为主）和数的要求；非谓语动词有不定式、

分词（包括现在分词和过去分词）和动名词之分。着手解题时应明确这个动词在句中的地位，这就要用到英语的五个基本句型概念（见

《大学英语力学教程》（上册）第57页）。我们知道，英语句子不管它多复杂，都是由这五个句型（或它们的变体）中的一个或几个

通过•定的规则结合而成。所以对照基本句型，很容易确定•个动词是不是谓语动词。至于用什么形式，那是•个综合分析过程。这部

分题既然都是单句，我们可设法从句内别的地方找到一些提示，来决定该用什么形式。如以《英语（一）自学考试样题》（以下简称《样

题》（）》为例，具体看看怎么做。如这套题的第二部分第9题（本书第335页）：

从句型看，这是“主语+谓语动词”结构。用什么时态好呢？这决定于句中的时间状语sofar（迄今为止）根据我们学过的语法，若句

子中的时间状语涉及的时间是从过去的某个时候开始，一直延续到现在（而且将来还可能继续下去），就要用现在完成时。另外appro

ve是及物动词，其后还有表示行为主:体的介词短语bythepresident,这决定了它要用被动语态。再看它的主:语hisapplication是

第三人称单数，因此动词要用单数形式。这样综合分析的结果，我们知道了正确的形式就应该是hasnotbeenapprovedo

再看第6题：

对照基本句型，可看出有关的那部分是“主:语+系动词+表语”结构，只不过它的系动词be和主语it换了个位置。从后面的•个句

子谓语动词wouldbe来看，用的是虚拟语气，而且是主句。那么前半句应是一个虚拟条件句。我们知道，虚拟条件句的动词如果包含

了be,可以用倒装形式而不要if,而be的虚拟式•概用were。

动词不单可在句子中充当谓语成分，它还可在句中作主语、宾语或表语。不仅如此，它也可构成范本句型中主要成分以外的其它成

分，如定语和状语等等。这就涉及到了非谓语动词。同样，我们可以通过综合分析确定它是不是非谓语动词，再根据它在句中充当的角

色决定该用什么形式。如第1题：

句中，shebegantodosomeshopping是“主语+谓语动词+宾语结构，那么前面的take不可能是调语动词了，其实它用来引出一

个时间状语。用作时间状语的只能是分词。由于“把孩子送到学校”和“开始购物”这两个动作是有先后的，状语表示的动作在先所以

要用在分词完成式Havingtakenherlittlesontoschoolo

关于形容词和副词，主要是确定用比较级还是最高级。做这类题，先要弄清这两种形式所代表的意思，句子的结构特点。此外，还

要知道与之相关的一些句型。如第7题：

The（far）awaywearefromtheearth,（thin）theatmospherebecomes.

我们看到这个句子的两个分句都是以定冠词the开始的，其后都是形容词，就应联想到“the+比较级…the+比较级”（越……就

越...）这个句型。因此，这两个形容词应分别变为farther和thinner。

怎样做结构及文字表达题

这部分题每句有一个空格，卜.面有四个选择项，要求从中选出一个最佳答案，口的是检查考生运用英语基本词汇和语法结构的能力。

《大纲》对哪些是词汇题，哪些是语法结构题没有严格界定，但这不妨碍做题。我们大体上可以从下述几个方面分别讨论。对于实义词

（这可从四个选择项中看出来），我们有时要从整句话的意思来选择答案，看它在逻辑上是不是说得通；有些是近义词，看似差不多，

实际上在不同的语境，要求用不同的词：还有一些词要求不同的介词或副词与它搭配。这些因素都能给我们提供解题的线索。还是看《样

题》（一）中的相应部分，它的第4题是：

我们选D为答案，因为tolerate是“允许，容忍”的意思。学校不能姑息考试作弊行为，这在道理上是合情合理的。要是把其余三个

词的任何一个放在里面，在意思上就说不通了。做这种题，有时不巧会遇到一些生词，我们可先从认得的词入手，把说不通的否定掉，

这样可缩小选择的范围，以后即使只能靠臆测选定答案，选中的概率也就大了。如果已找到了一个符合上下文意思的答案，就可以不用

再往下看。再看《英语（二）自学考试样题》（以下简称《样题》（二））相应部分的第9题：

我们选D为答案。为什么呢？这里涉及搭配问题。makesenseof是个固定词组，意思“理解，弄明白”，这类词组是不能变通的，换

了别的词就不通。

有的题要我们选择介词、关联词或起搭配作用的副词等。关于介词，有些是有明白的意思的，但多数试题中，它没有独立的意思，

只是别的词要求和它搭配使用。如《样题》（一）这部分的第1题：

我们选B,那是因为我们看到了distinguish这个词，这个词作及物动词用时必须和介词from,起使用方可表示“把...和区分

开来”的意思，用别的介词就不对了。做这样的题我们往往可以不看整个句子，只要注意到作为线索的那个关键词就可以了。

关联词（有时也叫结构词）是把从句和从句、分句和分句等连接起来的那些词。英语的复合句是不能把儿个简单句随意地堆砌在一

起就成的，要有一些特殊的词把它们连接起来，这样我们就能分清它们是名词从句、定语从句还是状语从句等等。这也要综合全句的结

构来看。如《样题》（）这部分的第2题：

我们选A为答案，它引出的是•个让步状语从句。那么C和D也可引出个让步状语从句，为什么不选呢？不说别的•些原因，只说我

们看到句子中还有ornot这两个词，我们知道whether…ornot是常在一起用的,有“无论...是否”的意思,nomatter和though

是没有这样用法的。那么，选B可不可以呢？有时，if是可以取代Whether的，但在这里不行。whether（作“是否”解）从句只有
