Goal:ToenablethechildtoreadandcomprehendbasicEnglishwordsandsentences.

Learningaboutshapes,colors,andmeasurement,suchassize,weight,length,andcapacity,canbeintegratedintodailyactivitiesandgames.Forexample,matchingshapes,sortingobjectsbysize,orcomparingtheweightofvariousitems.

C.Science

1.LifeScience

Teachingchildrenaboutlifescience,suchasthehumanbody,animals,andplants–helpsthemunderstandtheirsurroundingsandhowthingswork.Experiments,demonstrations,anddiscussionareeffectivestrategiesforteachingyoungchildrenaboutlifescience.

2.PhysicalScience

Physicalscienceconceptssuchaspropertiesofmatter,forces,andmotion,shouldbeintroducedinchild-friendlyways.Activitiessuchaswaterplay,buildingblocktowers,andcreatingrampscanmakelearningscienceconceptsenjoyableandengaging.

D.SocialStudies

1.SelfandFamily

Childrenshouldlearnabouttheirself-concept,family,andthefundamentalvaluesofcare,responsibility,respect,andhonesty.Sharingstories,role-playing,andengagingincooperativegamescanalsohelpbuildsocialskillsamongstchildren.

2.Community

Introducingchildrentoconceptssuchascommunityhelpers,diversecultures,andtheirrolesinsocietyhelpsthemunderstandtheirplaceintheworld.Activitiessuchascreatingacommunitymap,learningaboutdifferentcountries,orinvitingacommunityhelpertospeaktothechildrencanhelpdevelopthechild'ssocialawareness.

III.LessonPlan

Oncethelearningareashavebeenidentified,thenextstepistocreatealessonplan.Agoodlessonplanshouldincorporatedifferentteachingstrategiestoaccommodatevariouslearningstylesandkeepchildrenengaged.Belowisanexampleofalessonplanforteachingphonics.

Materials:Chartpaper,coloredpencils,flashcards,wordcards,picturebooks.
