DishonorDishonorisafailureorrefusaltomakeacceptanceorpaymentofabillofexchangewhenpresentedtothedrawee.Abillofexchangemaybedishonoredeitherbynon-acceptanceorbynon-payment.Whenabillisonlyofferedaqualifiedacceptance,theholdermaytakeitasdishonoredbynon-acceptance.Otherinstancesofdishonormayarisewhenthedrawee’sdeliberateavoidance,hisbankruptcyorevenhisdeath,whichmakestheacceptanceorthepaymentimpossible.Dishonor16

NoticeofdishonorWhenabillisdishonoredbynon-acceptanceorbynon-payment,theholdermustgivenoticeofdishonortothedrawerandalltheendorsersforwhomtheholdermaywishtomakeliable.Thepurposeofgivingsuchnoticeistoinformthedrawerandpriorendorsersthedefaultofacceptanceorpaymentsothattheymaygetreadytohonorthepayment.Noticeofdishonor17ProtestProtestisaformalcertificategivenbyanotarypartyorotherauthorizedpersontoevidencethatabillofexchangehasbeendishonored.Theprotestshouldbedoneontheverydayornolaterthanthenextbusinessdayfromthedayofdishonor.Protest18RightofrecourseRightofrecoursemeansthattheholderofabillofexchangehasthe
