DemocratsandRepublicansaboutwhattheiropponentsthoughtonarangeofpoliticalissues,

fromtaxtoimmigration.Thosewhorarelyfollowedthenewshadabettergraspoftheir

opponents9viewsthandidnewsjunkies.And,themoreeducatedtherespondent,themoreskewed

theirperceptionoftheiropponents.

Educationisgoodbutis,initself,noinsuranceagainstcognitivebias,noshieldagainsta

tendencytojumptoconclusionsunwarrantedbythefacts.Yet,sodeepseatedareprejudicesabout

theuneducatedmassesthatmanyprominentfigures,havecalledforthevotetobeconfinedtothe
