《英语国家概况》教学大纲一、总纲《英语国家概况》是介绍英语国家社会与文化的一门课程,是英语专业的基础课程。开设本课的目的在于使学生通过学习,能够比较全面地了解英美等国的各种情况,培养学生正确分析认识有关英美等国问题的能力,并能以正确的眼光看待世界上所发生的问题,把学生培养成为高素质的人才,同时又能爱祖国、热爱社会主义,致力为祖国的繁荣、发达而努力的人才,这是培养英语专业学生如何树立正确世界观的一个重要手段;通过比较学习不同文化中具有特殊文化涵义的词语与表达式,可以促使学生掌握一些特殊词语的深层次意义,是对词汇的学习以及翻译水平的提高有益的补充;通过开展中外文化的比较,让学生切身感受到成功的交际仅有语言是远远不够的,文化方面的因素有时所起的作用远远大于语言本身,必将为英语学习者成功地参与国际商务活动,更有效地进行国际合作与交流打下坚实的文化基础。教学目标:1.知识:要求学生在学习完本课程后,对世界上5个主要英语国家的地理、历史、政治、经济、社会、文化和生活等方面的基本情况和制度,有较好的了解,并能在工作中加以运用。2.语言学习:学生应结合有关5个主要英语国家地理、历史、政治、经济、社会、文化和生活等方面的基本情况和制度,学会与之相关的英语语汇和表达方式。3.能力:通过课文的阅读,1)提高学生对社会与文化类英语读物的阅读能力。2)提高学生听懂有关英语国家社会与文化情况的英语讲座、报告和广播。3)培养学生用英语进行相关的交谈、讨论、辩论和评论的能力,能作5分钟的连贯性讲话。4)培养学生以获取信息和表达思想为目的的阅读技巧。学时分配:本课于第五学期开设,总计36学时,平均每周2个学时.使用教材:《英语国家社会与文化入门》(上、下册)主编:朱永涛出版社:高等教育出版社。版次:1997年8月第一版章次内容总课时数理论教学讲练和评议观摩周次上册(英国、澳大利亚、新西兰)第一周绪论GreatBritain大不列颠NorthernIreland北爱尔兰33第二周TheGovernmentoftheUnitedKingdom英国的政府机构Politics英国政治概况22第三周TheUKEconomy英国经济BritishLiterature英国文学11第四周SportsinBritain英国的体育活动BritishHolidaysandFestivals
