UsingBatteryPower
TheLaptopisdesignedtoworkwitharemovablebatterypack.Thebatterypackconsists
ofasetofbatterycellshousedtogether.Afullychargedpackwillprovideseveralhoursofbatterylife,whichcanbefurtherextendedbyusingpowermanagementfeaturesthroughtheBIOSsetup.Additionalbatterypacksareoptionalandcanbepurchasedseparatelythrougha
Laptopretailer.
InstallingandRemovingtheBatteryPack
YourLaptopmayormaynothaveitsbatterypackinstalled.IfyourLaptopdoesnothaveitsbatterypackinstalled,usethefollowingprocedurestoinstallthebatterypack.
IMPORTANT!NeverattempttoremovethebatterypackwhiletheLaptopisturnedON,asthismayresultinthelossofworkingdata.

BatteryCare
TheLaptop’sbatterypack,likeallrechargeablebatteries,hasalimitonthenumbertimes
itcanberecharged.Thebatterypack’susefullifewilldependonyourenvironmenttemperature,humidity,andhowyourLaptopisused.Itisidealthatthebatterybeusedinatemperaturerangebetween5˚Cand35˚C(41˚Fand95˚F).YoumustalsotakeintoaccountthattheLaptop’sinternaltemperatureishigherthantheoutsidetemperature.Anytemperaturesaboveorbelowthisrangewillshortenthelifeofthebattery.Butinanycase,thebatterypack’susagetimewilleventuallydecreaseandanewbatterypackmustbepurchasedfromanauthorizeddealerforthisLaptop.Becausebatteriesalsohaveashelflife,itisnotrecommendedto
buyextrasforstoring.

TheLaptop’spower-ONmessageappearsonthescreenwhenyouturnitON.Ifnecessary,
youmayadjustthebrightnessbyusingthehotkeys.IfyouneedtoruntheBIOSSetuptoset
press[Tab]duringthesplashscreen,standardbootinformationsuchastheBIOSversioncanbeseen.Press[ESC]andyouwillbepresentedwithabootmenuwithselectionstobootfromyouravailabledrives.
NOTE:Beforebootup,thedisplaypanelwhenthepoweristurnedON.ThisispartoftheLaptop’stestroutineandisnotaproblemwiththedisplay.
IMPORTANT!Toprotecttheharddiskdrive,alwayswaitatleast5secondsafterturningOFFyourLaptopbeforeturningitbackON.
WARNING!DONOTcarryorcoveraLaptopthatispoweredONwithanymaterialsthatwillreduceaircirculationsuchasacarryingbag.

ThepowerswitchturnsONandOFFtheLaptoporputstheLaptopintosleepor
hibernationmodes.ActualbehaviorofthepowerswitchcanbecustomizedinWindowsControl

Forotheroptions,suchas“Restart,Sleep,orShutDown,”clickthepowericonintheSettingsmenuoftheWindowssidebar.
RestartingorRebooting
Aftermakingchangestoyouroperatingsystem,youmaybepromptedtorestartthesystem.
Someinstallationprocesseswillprovideadialogboxtoallowrestart.Torestartthesystemmanually,chooseRestart.
EmergencyShutdown
IncaseyouroperatingsystemcannotproperlyturnOFForrestart,thereisamanualwaytoshutdownyourLaptop:

CheckingBatteryPower
ThebatterysystemimplementstheSmartBatterystandardundertheWindowsenvironment,whichallowsthebatterytoaccuratelyreporttheamountofchargeleftinthebattery.Afully-chargedbatterypackprovidestheLaptopafew
powersavingfeatures,yourgeneralworkhabits,theCPU,systemmemorysize,andthesizeofthedisplaypanel.
NOTE:Screencapturesshownhereareexamplesonlyandmaynotwhatyouseeinyoursystem.
NOTE:Youwillbewarnedwhenbatterypowerislow.Ifyoucontinuetoignorethelowbatterywarnings,theLaptopeventuallyenterssuspendmode(WindowsdefaultusesSTR).

TheLaptophasanumberofautomaticoradjustablepowersavingfeatures
thatyoucanusetomaximizebatterylifeandlowerTotalCostofOwnership(TCO).YoucancontrolsomeofthesefeaturesthroughthePowermenuintheBIOSSetup.ACPIpowermanagementsettingsaremadethroughtheoperatingsystem.Thepowermanagementfeaturesaredesignedtosaveasmuchelectricityaspossiblebyputtingcomponentsintoalowpowerconsumptionmodeasoftenaspossiblebutalsoallowfulloperationondemand.

PowermanagementsettingscanbefoundinWindowsControlPanelPowerOptions.InSystem

TherearethreepowercontrolmethodsforcontrollingtheLaptop’sthermal
theLaptopshouldenterthesestates.Thefollowingtemperaturesrepresentthechassistemperature(notCPU).
ThefanturnsONforactivecoolingwhentemperaturereachesthesafeupperlimit.
TheCPUdecreasesspeedforpassivecoolingwhenthetemperatureexceedsthesafeupperlimit.
Thesystemshutsdownforcriticalcoolingwhentemperatureexceedsthemaximumsafeupperlimit.
