In1902,HuntingtonmovedhisbusinessoperationstoLosAngeles,wherehedevelopedthestreetrailwaysystemthatcreatedthestructureoftheLosAngelesarea.Hegreatlyexpandedtheexistingelectricrailwaylines,creatinganextensiveinter-urbansystemprovidingthetransportationnecessary.Huntington’sbusinessinterestscontinuedtogrowparticularlyintheareasofwater,power,andlanddevelopment;atonetimeheservedonasmanyas60corporateboardsthroughouttheUnitedStates.

Attheageof60,heannouncedhisdecisiontoretireinordertodevotetimetohisbookandartcollectionsandthelandscapingofthe600-acrefarm.In1911thelargeBeauxArtsbuilding,inthechargeofthearchitectMyronHunt,wascompleted.

In1913,HuntingtonmarriedArabellaDuvalHuntington.Shesharedhisinterestsincollecting.Asoneofthemostimportantartcollectorsofhergeneration,shewashighlyinfluentialinthedevelopmentoftheartcollectionnowshownintheformerbuilding.

In1919,HenryandArabellaHuntingtonsignedtheagreementthatconveyedtheirSanMarinopropertyandcollectionstoanonprofiteducationaltrust,creatingtheHuntington,oneoftheworld’sgreatcultural,research,andeducationalcenters.

HenryE.Huntingtondiedin1927,leavinghisgreattreasurestheHuntington,includingtheworld-famousHuntingtonLibrary,ArtGallery,andBotanicalGardensinSanMarino,Californiatothepublic,whichhostsmorethan500,000visitorseachyear.

Asixtoeightpagepersuasiveresearchpaperonatopicchosenbythestudents.TheresearchpaperstrengthenseffectivewritingskillslearnedinEnglishclass.Becausethepaperispersuasive,studentsshouldchooseatopicaboutwhichtheyhaveastrongopinion.Theyshoulduseelementslearnedwhendebatingtoconvincethereadersofthestrongopinionstatedinthepaper,andproveitthroughresearch.

2)Aphysicalproductandfieldwork

Aphysicalproductandfieldwork(15-hourminimumrequirement)relatedtosomeaspectofthepaper.The15hourscanbeobtainedthroughcommunityservice,jobshadowing,ormakinganactualproject.Studentsexploretopicsthatareacademicinnature,ahobby,apassion,orapossiblefuturecareer.

3)Datacollection
