Because it was

3、the 11th wedding anniversary. My husband bought me a bunch of roses,and I wrote a poem to celebrate this special day. Would you like to listen to my poem? Do you like it?Poems are a good way to express our thoughts and feelings. Today youll follow me to appreciate four great poems about love and fri

4、endship. Step 2 Reading and Appreciation1. Here are four titles. Read the poems and match them with the titles in Activity 1. (1min)2. Besides the title, each poem has its topic. 6、 the poem by chance. A poem is a speaking picture, and what picture comes to your mind after reading it?In Stanza two, the poet uses the technique of contrast. Find out what are contrasted.How many times “love ” is repeated?And what emotions does the poet want to express? Stanza 3 uses some symbols

7、to emphasize his emotions. What does “fire”,”mountain”,”star”Symbolize? Fire is so warm, but he felt despair for his love.Can you find anything special at the end of each line? We call it rhyme.Now lets listen to the tape and try to feel its tragic beauty.Poem 2 Lies About LoveRead it and match the

8、summary in Activity 4.Ask two detailed questions.1. What does “fixed” mean in Line 3?2. What does “it” refer to in Line 7?Listen to the tape. What two words are repeated? What emotions are expressed? Poem 3 RosesRead it and match it with the correct summary.What pictures come to your mind? And emoti

9、ons? The best way to enjoy the poem is to read it aloud and with emotions. Ask students to practice reading and read it before class.Poem 4 Auld Lang SyneThe poem is in a dialect of English. The title means “Time gone by”. In Stanza 1, the poet uses two questions to ask if it is right to forget old

10、friends and old time? It is meant to remember long-standing friendships. In Stanza 2, “Well take a cup of kindness yet”,What might this cup contain? What techniques are used in the poem?The poem is a beautiful song, and it is often sung at the start of the new year,and lets enjoy part of it. Step 3
