1、1111Peer Mediation: Helping Students Resolve ConflictsAt the end of a school day, when most children are outside playing or enjoying after-school activities, a small group of fourth, fifth and sixth graders at the Angelo School attend one of their weekly Peer Mediation Training Sessions. Their advis

2、or, Ms. Kim Saraiva, Health Education teacher at the Angelo, works with this select group of students to guide them and educate them in this excellent program which enables peers to resolve disputes, using a process involving talking and active listening. Students are trained to develop and refine t

3、he necessary skills for effective communication. Students need to apply to be a Peer Mediator and they need their parents permission. Teachers recommendations are given and interviews are conducted. Finally, each student who has been selected will go through a training session and commit to weekly m

4、eetings. The peer mediators usually work in pairs and are scheduled for duty by their advisors. They help students to express their conflict and find their own best solutions.The characteristics of a Peer Mediator are: Demonstrates good communication skillsLends support to everyone involved in confl
